Its the middle of winter, and she is flouncing around in a singlet and skirt, insisting she is not cold. The rest of us are shivering under our jackets and trackpants. She has always been this way. She is 5 now. I fight desperately to keep clothes on her. Even if it gets that cold that she has blueish lips, she will swear black and blue she isnt cold, and begs me to let her take her jumper off. I cant explain it. Quite often she feels warm to the touch, when Im freezing my backside off. What gives? Anyone else has a child that does this? To add to the craziness, its not unusual to see her wear a scarf and beanie in the middle of summer. Like I said but, shes always been this way, it doesnt appear to be an attention thing. I just cant explain it. Appreciate any insight.

I am happy and welcoming to anyone touching my baby who is in my immediate family. That goes for congregants of my synogogue, who are like family to my daughter and I. However, I become very upset when strangers to us come up and touch her bare foot or hand. It makes me very angry because they are exposing her to germs.. plus who gave them the right to come up to us and start touching? This happens at WalMart, on the street, and the flea market.. you name it. I have started to tell people "you can look but do not touch" because I don't think it's anyone's right to go up to a baby and touch him/her without the parent's consent. I think it's disgusting that people feel entitled to touching others - it's intrusive and it p*sses me off. Opinions, Moms?

A week or so ago, I got two positive pregnancy tests. My period (so I think it was) started on June 13th. Wasn't heavy, it looked "normal" to me. I called the Dr about the pregnancy tests and the bleeding. Now, I have been spotting. I NEVER spot as much as I have been. I spotted on 19th, 20th and 22nd. I don't usually spot unless I am ovulating or about to start. I "shouldn't" be ovulating for another 5 to 7 days (normally). What could it be? Any suggestions? I will be calling my DR again on Monday.

Okay, I'm sure I'm not the only one with two children in this world but I am a stay at home mom of two wonderful children ages 2 and 6 weeks....and I am exausted!! I'm not sure if it is our time schedules that are affecting this or what but I am looking for some tips on getting more rest with 2 children so close in age. What do you other mommies do? I seem to be so tired when my head hits the pillow I'm out and when the baby wakes up to feed, I can't seem to even hold my head up. I'm just looking for some tips on getting some more rest and maybe some scheduling tips also. Thanks!!

I recieved an invite to a baby shower that says how everyone has bought them so much and they have everything now but a few things and then goes onto say but if you must bring a gift then a donation would be appreciated. Is it me? or is it the done thing nowadays to EXPECT rather than be grateful for anything you may get for nothing? This is family, i don't know what to reply and even my best friend who has an answer for everything is speechless! For some reason i am angered!

I read a story about a woman who was stranded with her two children, ages 7 months and 4 years, and fed them breast milk to keep them alive. If there was no more food for the mom to eat, would she still make breast milk? Would drinking her own milk help her too?

I think that I might be pregnant and today I noticed some veins showing in my left breast and when I observed it closely, I realized that I could see the veins even in my nipple? Now I know that I have never seen them on my brests before, not this noticable and definetly not in my nipple..what could this be a sign of? Pregnancy maybe?

I'm just gonna be straight up so if you can't handle this just leave now, you are weak if you have to answer harshly/obnoxiously.
That said, I have been dating my b/f for over 2 yrs., living together over 6 mnths, my family loves and accepts him, and we are pretty stable for 29 (him) and 21 (me). Even on BIRTH CONTROL (I put emphasis on this b/c we are not a reckless couple, we always knew kids are no joke) I am currently 7 wks. pregnant. We r behavin as if we're keeping it (I'm applying for medicaid, he gave me #'s to 3 reputable OB-GYN's and we literally went to Barnes and Noble for three hours reading about pregnancy and parenting) but we are both in doubt and abortion is an option. We r realistic and knew we wouldn't marry, we're simply together and content. We could do this maturely and civilized but we're not sure if we're the ones to have a child together. I am young but that's not my fear, I am just worried he's not "the one" you know? Is it wise to have this baby? Opinions?

A friend of mine will be having her first child less than 6 months from now. Being a bookworm, (and so is my friend), I thought that I could get some books she can read to the baby.

I've never really bought books for newborns before, although it's my understanding that reading should be done as early and as often as possible. I realize there are the favorites such as "Goodnight Moon", "Pat the Bunny/Cat/Puppy", etc. I'm just looking for any other suggestions as well. They don't have to be the popular/most well-known ones, as I don't want to duplicate something that someone else might get too.

Airplane food is so bad I at least wanted to bring some fruits/vegetables for my toddler. I want to bring the jarred foods because they're vacuum packed so will last the duration of the flight.
But did anyone else notice that jarred baby food comes in 4 oz (or more for the stage 3 foods), and the TSA traveling guidelines for food says it needs to be in a 3 oz. container? It looks like the folks coming up with the rules don't have kids or have never bought food for young children. Everything comes in 4 oz as the smallest size!
Ex. children's yogurt

My question: has anyone traveled with a toddler (not an infant) and tried to bring a 4 oz jar of baby/toddler food? Did they let you through?

(note: I've already thoroughly read the TSA website and there really is no specific info; just the 3-1-1 rule.)

My wife got into the habit of putting our 1 year old son in the shower with me to bathe because it was easier. Now he's 3.5 and he still loves hopping in the tub or shower with me but I feel like I should be in a bathing suit now. Sometimes I wear a bathing suit! My wife says, 'he's use to it so he shouldn't be uncomfortable.' I'm just worried about it being inappropriate now.
