Airplane food is so bad I at least wanted to bring some fruits/vegetables for my toddler. I want to bring the jarred foods because they're vacuum packed so will last the duration of the flight.
But did anyone else notice that jarred baby food comes in 4 oz (or more for the stage 3 foods), and the TSA traveling guidelines for food says it needs to be in a 3 oz. container? It looks like the folks coming up with the rules don't have kids or have never bought food for young children. Everything comes in 4 oz as the smallest size!
Ex. children's yogurt

My question: has anyone traveled with a toddler (not an infant) and tried to bring a 4 oz jar of baby/toddler food? Did they let you through?

(note: I've already thoroughly read the TSA website and there really is no specific info; just the 3-1-1 rule.)

ugh, that is so stupid. they don't even know their own new rules. Once, my husband was carrying a classified doc. and NO ONE could look at it. He works in missile defense.. they didn't know what to do..too funny actually.

Anyway, I have never traveled w/those containers, so clueless.. Just I guess call the airline or airports you'll be going thru.. Chances are they won't even know where to direct the call and you'll get a diff answer every time.

I wouldn't even bother bringing something like that, esp glass. Try the toddler puffs/fruit bites or toddler meals in the box, plastic container... instead

Yes, food can go for a baby. You could bring a 6 or 8 ounce container of baby food in your carry-on, because it's for a toddler. You probably shouldn't bring along 2 or 3 cases, just enough for the flight, and maybe an extra 1 or 2 "just in case", since kids are fussy.

Juice and milk is also fine for infants and toddlers, but water for some reason isn't. I suppose their reasoning is that juice can't necessarily be purchased beyond security but water can and you can get water on the plane. Regardless of that, if you're traveling with an infant, foods and medications are exempt from that rule, as long as they are for the toddler.

Now, a quick note on that, you need to take all of the baby food, diaper rash cream, liquid tylenol, etc. out of your carry-on for the screeners so they can look at it. They might ask you who the food is for, but since it's for your baby, that won't be any problem.

why would a toddler want baby food anyway? first of all, airplane food isn't so bad- I just travelled to and from the UK with a 4 yr old and he loved everything they served on the regular "menu". I also brought things like fruit snacks, individual snack size bags of goldfish crackers and pretzels, a baggie of grapes and things like that. Relax, it won't be as bad as you think. And your child WILL make it through with no adverse effects!

I know that tupperware has those small sauce containers.. Can you transfer the food into the smaller containers?

they permit nutrition as long because it rather is not in liquid sort, positioned it in a sparkling plastic baggie (no cans or bottles) and additionally you could have rather no problems. And beverages you will get on board additionally.
