Ambien is a great sleeping aid. Never use any alcohol with it because you can wander around under the influence of it without knowing. It also can cause a dependency if you use it for more than 7 days straight. (according to my doctor) This is from the ambien literature.
Pregnancy
Sleep medicines may cause sedation of the unborn baby when used during the last weeks of pregnancy.
Be sure to tell your doctor if you are pregnant, if you are planning to become pregnant, or if you become pregnant while taking AMBIEN CR.
If you are concerned about the risks of side effects associated with Ambien CR and other sleep aid medications, talk to your health-care provider.
They show no risks associated with pregnancy but tell you to talk with your physician. Careful!!

You really should ask your doctor before you take anything although i'm sure its very late whereever you are and you're only asking online out of desperation. So when I was pregnant with my twins I took Tylenol PM to help me sleep and help with aches, thats what my OB told me to take and said it wouldn't harm the babies. However I was much further along then you are, I was in the third trimester and i'm not sure if that makes a difference or not. I always only took have the usual dosage just to be extra safe even though the doctor said the normal dosage was fine. I hope you find an answer and some sleep soon.

Call your doctor or a nurse helpline, maybe a 24 hour pharmacy.
Just because it was safe for another pregnant woman does not mean it is for you.
There are many things that could make a difference ( blood pressure, any prior complictions)
I would try a natural sleep aid first. I have a seven month old, so I know how the baby insomnia is. Just think practice for all the nights you wont be sleeping once the baby gets here :)
Good luck hope you get some zzz's

Take half a pill. It'll put you out and you'll both be just fine.
I worked in a Pharmacy for a long time and I have a little girl of my own. Sleeping pills are basically tiny muscle relaxers. They are understood so I don't know what the hell that other person is thinking. You'll be fine. Get some rest while you can!

No! I wouldn't take anything but that's just me. Insomnia is very common in pregnancy (I think it's nature's way of preparing us for when the little dears arrive) I use relaxation techniques & no caffiene (that includes chocolate) I think that Cammomile is safe during pregnancy but you would have to check. Try to relax. The more stressed out you are about your lack of sleep the less likely you will be able to get to sleep. Good luck from someone who know's what you are going through. Take care!

I'm not sure about Ambien, but I know it's safe to take Benedryl, Tylenol PM (which contains Tylenol and Benedryl) and Unisom. Unisom is safe as it, along with B6 are used for nausea/vomiting in pregnancy. (I took the combo and it helped!) I even had a doctor's appt yesterday and double checked with my doctor and she said Unisom is safe - and it's over the counter.

My doc told me it was ok for me to take Tylenol PM. I'm not a doc and everybody is different so check first. Try to call a 24 hour pharmacy. The pharmacist might be able to tell you.

Unisom is okay. And no, not everything you take goes to your baby. Some things bi pass the umbilical cord that's why its OK to take Tylenol and other approved medicines.

I would not take it. there are other ways to fall asleep. once I asked yahoo and a person said to settle your debts and do things that you need to get done. so your not worried about it. and it works. I have the same problem not pregnant though and congratulations by the way.

Don't take anything without talking to your Dr. first. When I was pregnant my Dr. told me that unisome was all that I could take.
