I read a story about a woman who was stranded with her two children, ages 7 months and 4 years, and fed them breast milk to keep them alive. If there was no more food for the mom to eat, would she still make breast milk? Would drinking her own milk help her too?

she would continue to make milk for a while, her body would process all her fat stores. Thats why you can't lose that last 5-10 lbs while bfing, your body holds on to it "just in case". That family was blessed, but the loss of the father was tragic.
