When we were growing up, if you had a name like Sonata or Sawyer, other kids thought you were weird. But now that the concept of cool permeates the culture, down to children's own ideas about desirability, don't you think kids take unusual names in stride and even admire them? I am wondering more often than not why we don't go more against the grain in naming children. I ask (ed) quite a few naming Q's lately with very cool, unique names. Maisen (Mason -girl's name) Delaney, Colt, Jennings, Ireland, Cecily, Chance, Cash, Stevens (yes, with an 's') all unique... No need to agree that you like them or not, but most of you tend to stick to 'safe' names... Logan, Keegan, Micheal, James, Cole. Why? Do you really feel that our children will not be able to handle or admire a unique name? What do you think?

The world is full of inspiration for cool child-naming. Or are you ready to give your child a plain, solid, and decidedly un-cool name like John (sorry all you John's- my fathers name) ?

We are waiting to adopt and have our homestudy completed by the state. Our agency wait is roughly 1-2 years currently. What can we do to network and search for private adoptions? We have info from our state for foster adoption but we are looking to adopt an infant. Any suggestions?

in the area that I live in. Have you been experiencing the same thing where you live?I know it tends to happen this time of year but the local numbers here are astounding!! PLEASE PLEASE everyone watch your kids like a hawk around water! It only takes a second! In the past 4 days here we have had drownings of a 40 year old man, 2 year old child, 19 year old boy and the near drownings of kids ages 3, 5 and 9. Everyone should take the time to make sure your kids are safe around water.

I was just wondering how fast you ladies got your symptoms when you fell pregnant? Did you get them pretty much right after ovulation or was it later on? Just wanted some input! How fast can a woman actually get symptoms?

My kids ages 9 and 10 constantly have conversations with their friends about MONEY - whose parents are rich, how much they make, what they drive and so on. Also they talk about parents getting divorced, their relationships, and who does what for a living. When I was their age we talked about Much simpler things - toys and slumber parties - Are your kids talking this as well?

Well, my husband and I are not trying to conceive right now. I am on birth control, and I take it religiously every night at 10:00. Anyway, a few nights ago, I woke up with terrible cramps in my stomach like it was that time of the month, but it wasn't and the cramps subsided. Well, now for the past 2 nights I have had waves of nausea. What is this??

I recently read in a magazine that babies under 12 months cant have honey. I would have thought that honey would have been better for a cold, sore throat or cough. Its a natural substance so why is it bad for them & what does it do to the body?

I don't know where she gets it from, but it really bothers me that she does this. She leaves red marks and welts on her wrists. We do not spank or hit as discipline at home. Do other kids her age react this way?

My daughter goes to daycare on Thursdays until 12:00 and then until 2:30 on Fridays.

Every Friday (only) the teacher insists she is sick. They say she is running a high fever and this past Friday we had to pick her up because they claimed she threw up. However, when we bring her home, she is just fine. She is 10 months old and teething. This past Friday, she came home, had lunch, played, etc. She had a slight fever (it never registered past 99.1) and they said she had a fever of 102. I have had her to the doctor twice and he said, "Baby's temps fluctuate). I am not the type to bring my child to daycare sick. However, why do they keep saying she is sick and we bring her home and she is fine? Do they not like her? They did have her this past Friday outside in 92 degree heat and she had a bit of a sunburn. Perhaps that is why she had a "fever?"

HELP. What do I do. I'm tired of them saying she is sick when she is NOT!

My daughter is 16 months old and hasn't really shown an interest in going potty. We bought her a seat 2 months ago and she will sit on it, but nothing else. She is to the point where she will take off her diaper if she can. When we change her, she refuses to cooperate. She will turn and twist and stiffen up and this is terrible when it's a #2! It is getting to be hell for us!!! I've heard of people potting training at this age... so, HELP!! Any tips will be helpful and very much appreciated!!

I have five boys and my wife is going to give birth to another little mischief maker. So basically six boys. Its not like we were planing for a girl. We always wanted a big family and we have a big one. We are perfectly happy with all our boys although it can get a handful of trouble sometimes but its always fun. How many kids do you have or how many kids do you want in the future?

I've heard of women that have kids and will marry some guy with no kids and they'll try really hard to have children together, but secretly she doesn't want more kids. In fact she is taking a lot of precautions to have no more kids and will go as far to have abortions without the knowledge of their husband. What makes a person do such a thing?
