My fiancee and I have been together for 7 years. i know we cant adopt unless we are married. I would love to adopt instead of having our own snice there are so many children without homes. Its so exspensive though. And I would rather not go through a agency since they are was to exspensive!!Is it cheaper to do a private adoption with a young pregnant mother and can you just settle on a ammount? How do you find these types of women? Please help with advice and personal stories.

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "settle on an amount." In an adoption, you do not pay for a woman's child. The costs come from legal fees (the courthouse charges you to file the adoption papers), agency/attorney fees, and, in the case of infant adoption, the adoptive parents often pay for the biological mother's prenatal care and hospital costs, as a courtesy.

Please take a look at this site with your fiancee: http://adopting.adoption.com/adopt/getting-started-with-adoption.html It explains the whole process from start to finish in easy-to-understand terms.

You cant really do what your saying because its considered illegal every were. Even though you dont mean to it is considered buying a child. That is the reason you need to go through some type of agency. There are several non profit agencys that screen you but, let the birthmothers make the choice on weather or not to choose you. I must tell you though that not many birthmothers will want to have some one who is unmarried raise their child. I myself have been a birth mother three times and wanted better for my children that is why I chose married couples.

You don't have to go through an agency, but you need an attorney to help you. If by some chance you hear of someone wanting to place their child up for adoption then by all means let them know you are interested. When we were looking I tried to let everyone know. You can contact churches, schools doctors offices. We have adopted our children through foster/adopt, but you do have to be married 2 years before you can apply.

"These kind of women"? (eww)
"Cheaper to do a private adoption?" (depends on what you mean be cheaper)

You cannot give a birthmother a dime for placing her baby with you! THAT'S why agencies are better -- they can!

Then she can get housing, counseling, medical care, etc.!

And if she walks away after you support her for 9 months? At an agency, you loose nothing much but your emotions. Private adoption, you loose everything.

If you want to provide a home for a child in need I suggest you go through the state child welfare or foster care programs. There are way more hopeful adoptive parents than there are newborns being placed.
