My son is not sleeping and I have no idea what to do. My 19 month old always slept well and at this point she is sleeping more than my son. Last night she slept 12 hours and had a 2 hour nap this afternoon. My son has only slept a total of about 9 hours in the last 24 and it is only in short spurts. this is not normal right? I was told the newborns usually sleep at least 14 hours a day but average about 16 so what the heck is up? He dosn't seem sick and he gets mad when we try to get him to sleep. HELP PLEASE.

Our town's elementary school district School Board meeting is tomorrow night. The agenda includes making a decision on maximum class size for the K-6 schools in the district. Currently, they are considering a class size of 32, before splitting the class and hiring another teacher. Most of us parents, of course, would prefer smaller class sizes.

While we appreciate budgetary concerns, we don't want to compromise our child's educational opportunities, either. As, I'm sure, the school board understands and, probably, agrees. Our district currently does not provide teacher's aides, unless there is a special needs child in the classroom (no matter what the class size).

Is there any research out there that studies the optimal class size? Is there a certain class size beyond which learning is, usually, seriously impaired?

What is your personal experience with having your children in large classes versus small classes?

My oldest daughter will be graduating from high school next year and has started to become interested in going to college in Italy. We are italian and speak some here and there at home, but I'm not sure if I would let her go.
I asked in the Italian section if my daughter would be accepted there as an American. All of them said yes and those Americans that they don't accept are military base. They claim they crowd the bars and drink too much. hmm.
Would you consider letting your child attend a university over seas, not just to study abroad?

I haven't seen my father or talked to him in 16 years...he signed over his rights and me and my 4 other siblings got adopted years ago. I recently got his number by running in to a biological family member, and I plan on calling him tonight. I am so nervous and I don't know what to say. I know he might not be me real father and I want to question him aboaut that.

I am now overdue, and have read that the nearer the birth the less active baby becomes. But my baby has been moving like never before for the last 2 hours! And it hurts down low near my pubic bone and i mean really hurts at times. Short sharp pains like something is trying to come through!

Has anyone else experienced this or knows what baby is up too?

My husband and I are expecting identical twin boys sometime in the next couple months. We need name help.
I like Lex and Leo but he wants other names to choose out of. Just in case they dont fit the boys. I dont want the names to rhyme. This isnt the 50s. Our last name is Beele. We already have a three and a half year old son Thor Karcher Beele.
I kind of want to do our grandfathers names.
His grandfather is Henry and mine is Finn.
But I need some suggestions.
Thor is named after my husbands deceased brother whose name was Karcher.

I'm 16, she's 19. When she 16 she went through some bad days, peer pressure, bad friends, She messed up, got drunk w/ them and helped those trouble makers put graffiti on some walls and break some windows. She didnt realize what she was doing but my parents were realy harsh, she was punished for 5 months, grounded from everything, including those beautiful clothes she loved, and had to work as a janitor to pay for the damages. Those months were terrible to her, she suffered a lot but my parents were inflexible. Today I'm sure they went overboard. That time I was jealous of her and so during her punishment i teased her a few times, until my parents forbade me. She got extremely resentful of me and our parents, since them she's avoided us. She told me I was dead to her. Today she's in college, a very mature, great girl, I could learn so much w/ her, apologized a lot of times but nothing changed. Against my and my parents' will she's leaving homeand it'll be even harder to make up w/ her

Every time I read someones questions the answer would be get the book what to expect when you're expecting. Got it today, it is at WalMart, and thank you all for your kind words, wisdom, dealing with emotional things. Thank You . Question, what would you do or how would you act if your family and b/f/husband didnt talk about the baby or even realize there is going to be one. I am 3 3/4 wks preggy, and knowone is mentioning the baby. Its too early to buy clothes. How would you react? Be pissed off or wait to see if they come around. Feels like I'm alone in this except for yahoo pregnancy community. Mwaaaaaaa xoxox Thanks

How soon would you test ?

Ladies, Serious answers please.

My period was supposed to start June 1. I have a 27 days cycle. I am on cycle day 33 and no period yet. I am starting to worry, but I don't know how soon I should test.
Do you think a test would be accurate enough right now? What tests do you recommend.

I am flying to Massachussetts this weekend and want to know if I am pregnant before I go.

What's your best advice?

I am tired all the time. The tiredness has been going on for about 2 weeks. I woke up at 11 am today and wanted to lay down for a nap around 1:30. The tiredness is overwhelming.
ive been feeling light cramps for the past 2 weeks also.

would a dollar store test be ok? money is tight right now because my boyfriend and i are in the middle of moving.

also, we have been having unprotected sex for 13 months now. trying for a baby.

Lays on the floor in front of TV. Sometimes wearing a T-shirt only and plays with himself for extended periods of time. Up to an hour plus, this just started. He is also walking around the house, go get a cookie or glass milk (no one else is here), seeming to be very proud of his own little man. He believes babies are made by French kissing! I have always answered his questions honestly and don't know where he got this. No problems at school. I have talked to him about it. No abuse involved, he just says it feels good. So I have been ignoring it. Is this okay, normal? PS he has never liked to wear clothes.

have the problem when you start the ttc discussion and then your husband abstains from intercourse and says it just because I am tired. Do you believe it or is it just coincidence?

kind of guilty. They are 12, 10 & 9 and very responsible & well behaved. (I'm not proud or anything!lol) I wish I could be there with them like my mom was, she was a teacher. Anyway, I hired Nanny McPaige, as they like to call her, 3 days a week to come from 11:00 to 5:00. She takes them to swim, park, bowling, rides in her convertable and so on. The other days they stay at home and can't go outside because it scares me too much. (We live on 5 acres, not in a sub-division) I bought them arts & crafts & games to play inside. They have a schedule of get up by 9:30, breakfast, chores, play, and lunch, whatever they want for the rest of the day till my husband gets home around 4:30.
Are any of you moms in the same boat? What are your feelings? Any advice?

Thanks to all you great moms out in yahoo land!

your job is a long distance from home? I want to move to Lancaster, Ca, but my job is in Downtown L.A. (I currently live in L.A.)I know that this commute is very common, but how do you handle your children being so far away while you are at work? What if there is an emergency? What if your kids are having wild parties while you're at work? What if, what if, what if.....? Is this something that I'm making too much out of and shouldn't worry? Parents, please share your experience in dealing with this type issue......Thanks!

My son's preschool class is having a potluck next week. What in the world can I bring that 3-5 year old kids would like? I'm sure lots of other moms are bringing dessert-type things, so I want to bring something that isn't sweet. Plus, I want to be able to make it myself.

Any ideas?

For one i had my glucose screen friday morning and haven't heard back on it,they supposed to call you pass or fail. The other thing is i had an emergency csection w/ my first preg due to inflamed appendix and severe infection and have asked my dr. on the past 2 visits whether he thhinks i'll have to have another csection. Each time he says he hasnt had time to look over my hospital dr. report...2months and not had a chance? As a matter of fact each time i see him he asks me the reason i had a csection before, like he forgot! It is important to me to know what to expect and he just doesn't seem concerned with it at all.I'm 26 weeks along and don't want to have to switch drs but i do want someone who at least pretends to care what happens and pays attention to my concerns. Do you think im over reacting and is his procrastination normal or should i find anither dr? Also, should they have called by now on glucose results?
