I was told by my doctor that no these cramps will not harm the baby. I have IBS and have had IBS for about 10 years. I am 13 weeks pregnant right now, and have noticed an increase in symptoms, but that is to be expected with all the hormones raging through your body right now.

Also, my doc said that my prenatal vitamin could be the cause of some of the cramps. The iron in the pills can cause more constipation if you are prone to that, or it can worsen diarrhea too. If it is really bothersome, talk to your doctor about using pills with less iron, or non all together.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

no, I have IBS and have had sucessful pregnancies. Sometimes the bowel cramps may irritate the uterus and cause you to have some braxton hicks contractions, but there is no harm to the baby.

Find the cook book called Good Food for Bad Stomachs, has ever day stuff in it but for people that have problems with their stomachs. It basically just substitutes normal recipes for one that have easier to digest ingredients in it.
