Well I have a six year old niece. Since she learned how to walk, she has been pretty active and wild and you just cannot do anything with her! She doesn't stop dancing, jumping around, singing or moving around. She'll do it around the clock! Even if you tell her to calm down or sit down for a minute, she doesn't do it and she's always looking for something to do. The problem is she gets bored very easily and she has to be doing something or do anything to get people's attention. She loves to be the center of attention all the time. My niece can't be quiet for a minute or stop moving around so much. My sister has put her into dancing, gymnastics and basketball and keeps pulling her out either because she can't take her there anymore or because my niece gets bored or is too overactive. Weird thing is none of her teachers complain. She's quiet and fine in school but anywhere else, she's completely uncontrollable and she doesn't care for time-outs. Time-outs doesn't calm her down and sometimes she doesn’t do what she’s supposed to do during time-outs when we look away. She sits down when she’s supposed to be standing up and facing the wall. Then my sister decides that when time-outs didn’t work, she would spank her but I thought you stop spanking before a child is six. Now since her younger brother was born, she’s been worst. She disobeys more, overly active and makes distracting noises with her throat. Her doctor says that her throat looks fine but she keeps making the noises. We’ve down just about everything. What else is there to do? What is the problem? How do we treat the problem?
