Thank you everyone for all your lovely suggestions. We've decided to go with Nathan and Ella and we are going to use our names, Joseph and Marie, as middle names.

I like Isabelle for a girl, its the name I had picked out but the baby is a little boy not a little girl... I had Isabelle Beth, doesn't sound the best but my due date is my best friend's birthday, her name is Beth. Worked for me. My boyfriend wanted either Isabelle Shirley (my middle name) or Isabelle May (family name on both sides). Again those don't nessisarily help you much.
For the boys names this is going to sound ridiculous but I like Caden because it reminds me of Raiden, which is the God of Lightening from Mortal Kombat, and was always my favorite character to play in that game.
I just ate a bunch of candy so I'm feeling completely silly and the only middle names I can come up with right now are Caden Aiden and Caden Ivan...
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Caden - This and "Jaden/Jayden" are rapidly turning into the "Heather" of this decade. WAY overused.
Nathan Jacob, or Jacob Nathan are both classic and dignified. You can get cute, boyish nicknames out of both ("Jake," "Jay," and "Nat" or "Nate") when he's little - none of those names will get him teased on the playground. Plus the full names will both look and sound dignified when they're announced at his college graduation.
Your feminine names are all beautiful. Ava (Gardner), Lauren (Hutton), Sophia (Loren), Isabelle (Adjani) and Ella (Fitzgerald) are all classy, feminine women, and their names all have associations with old-school style and glamour. If I REALLY had to chose just one, I'd go with Ava or Isabelle, though. It's easy to spell and pronounce yet uncommon enough this generation to be novel.
