Yes, they are a starching food that does that. Try to counteract that by giving your baby applesauce. That has fiber and loosens the stool.

Yes! Baby food is very constipating. Try some baby apple juice mixed 50/50 with water (Gerber makes apple juice that has no sugar added). That will flush him right out! (White grape juice, prune juice, etc. will work also. I just found that apple was a good starting point). And it doesn't even take that much of it! My son is 5 1/2 months and it works great. I recommend doing it in a sippee cup - you may still have to help your little one until he gets the hang out it. I was told to do juice in a cup not a bottle by our pediatrician. And don't do it right before bed - their gums (and teeth if he has any) can start to rot because of the sugar if left all night like that. I take a wet washcloth and wipe off my son's gums after he drinks juice. But again, a little bit of it and he starts pooping in no time!

Banana's are a constipator. just limit the amout of banana's you give at a time. Also if you gave banana's one time and you know it causes constipation, you may want to follow with one of the foods that helps babys not be constipated...ie prunes, peaches ect...maybe it will help offset

your mom never gave you bananas when you had diarrhea... the potassium and fiber in the bananas make the poo firm. That's why bananas are given to little kids with diarrhea you should wait till he/she is older so that the body mixed with other food can handle the fiber and potassium. It's normal for the baby poo to be like this... but i think you should hold off on the bananas till he's older.

Many babies have problems with constipation from bananas. I would hold off on them and give him other fruits. You little one will eventually be able to eat them again once his little stomach is able to handle stronger foods. Good luck...

My doctor always said the "BRAT" diet for diarrhea. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast.
So bananas should cause constipation.

This happened to both of my kids as babies and has continued into their toddler years. They always seem to be fine if I just give them a little, about 1/4 a banana.
Good luck!

Give him only small portions - just a bite or two - as he gets used to solid foods. Gradually build up to larger quantities.
You didn't say how old he is, but we tend to push solid food on them earlier than they really need it.
