My husband wants to complete his bachelor's degree. He is currently unemployed. The employment commission will help him with school and give him a $216 a week benefit. My question is how can we pay he bills and take care of our 10 month old. If he works he loses the school benefit and $216.

This is going to sound weird... but any parent with a child in diapers will probably know what I am talking about. I have two kids in diapers, and sometimes one of them has this really gross poop that is difficult to wipe. It isn't thick, but it has little rubbery granules or grains in it that just go everywhere when you try to wipe it off. It is very messy! My question is, does anyone know where these kinds of poops come from? Is there a certain food that causes poop to have these little rubbery specks in it, something I can avoid giving my kids?

I plan on giving my baby breastmilk until 12 months old. But, he has bit me a couple of times and he takes a bottle fine at the sitter 1-2 days a week. So, I started trying to pump and give him a bottle for the 11a and 3p feedings. He still takes the breast upon early wakening and bedtime for comfort. But, I am only pumping out 3 oz total to put in his bottle. He will only nurse for about 10 minutes total on the breast at his 11a and 3p feedings. So, is he getting more than 3 oz. out when he nurses, meaning I should supplement with formula to get him to 5-6 oz? He is gaining weight normally and developing normally. I'm confused, please help.

I just started taking a full load of classes at school so that I can graduate sooner. This means I am taking day and night classes.
Anyway, one of my best friends has been watching my daughter(2.5 years old) two days a week in the morning. We've only been doing this since about the last week of jan.(not long I know). Today my friend tells me that she might be moving soon(way out of town). I'm just curious at how easy is it to get a child who isn't potty trained quite yet to get into daycare/preschool fast?
I need to scramble to do this, I need help!
I'm in the east bay area, CA... if anyone knows a good place to put her I'd love to know!

I'm 39 years old, with not much time left on my biological clock. My husband and I have a beautiful daughter whom we love very much. I want to start trying for another child this summer, and he is against it. When I ask him why, he simply states he doesn't. When we got married we agreed we would have two children, now he is going back on his word. I find this very hurtful and I'm starting to resent him. I don't want my daughter to grow up without a sibling. Is there any way to convince him otherwise. Please help!!!

I'm 19, and I just got married last year, and found out just before Christmas that my husband and I are expecting our first baby in August 2007. Then, my Mom found out that she is pregnant! She hasn't had a doctors appointment yet, so we're not sure when she is due, but I think it would be pretty crazy if we were due around the same time. I already have a brother who is 2 and a half, and a sister who is 9 months old. I know it isn't THAT unusual, since my Mom is only 37, and she has a new husband, but it's still pretty strange to me.

Some of my friends think that I should be mad, because now I have to share my "pregnancy spotlight" with my Mom. I'm really not mad at all, I mean what can I do? This will be my Moms 5th child, and my 1st so there is a pretty big difference. So far I've been really supportive, so I'm pretty curious why my friends seem appalled.

Should I be upset at all? Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm trying to find a decent breast pump, but $300 is way over my budget. I'm more in the $100 - $200 price range. Does anyone have any comments on any pumps that are cheaper (experiences, comments on how they work, different brand suggestions, etc.) ?

I'm 5 weeks and 4 days pregnant. As soon as I found out last Sunday that I was pregnant I made the decision to quit immediately. Trouble is it's been easier said than done. I normally smoked 25-35 cigarettes a day. Now I smoke about 2 or 3 cigarettes a day. When I find the withdrawals are getting really bad I'll have a few puffs off of the cigarette and put it out. I want to quit completely but it's so damned hard!! Going from 25-35 smokes a day to none seems to be next to impossible so I've managed to drastically cut down to only a few smokes a day tops. I wanted to use the patch but doctor advised against it. How can I completely quit?? I'd like to hear from ex-smokers who had the same problem. (And preachy non-smokers who've never smoked can keep their holier-than-thou opinions to themselves. Sorry but I find people who've never smoked have no idea what it's like and they end up being condescending).

I saw a couple with an infant in the back seat and both of them were smoking with the windows barely cracked and it enraged me, so I was wondering about the legallity of it. If it is not illegal it should be!!!!

OK so why is there women out there that complian about being pregnant. Why are there women out there that the minute they take that pregnancy test say their pants are too tight and want pickles or somthing weird to eat and want to take a nap. Why do they say becuase they are pregnant they can't clean their house or take care of their kid. It doesnt make sense. I keep seeing these people who are getting pregnant that really do not need kids at all. But yet there are women out there that deserve children and just can't conceive. I dont get it. Its amazing how pregnancy puts this stuff in your head that you actually believe. Why do these women act this way?

2 questions..
my son is 4 months old and hates tummy time. he can pull his legs up under his stomach but he wont keep his arms in front of him, to learn to push up. he always bring them back to his side, and then he just gets frustrated. any ideas on how to encourage him to keep his arms out in front of him while he is on his tummy.

also, he loves his pacifier..and wont fall asleep without it. (he sleeps thru the night) the problem is, he will wake up at about 4 am, and scream if someone doesnt get up and go put the nuk back in his mouth. and then every hour or so after that until 10am.
should we try the method of: just puting him down, letting him cry for 5 min..go attend to him...wait 10 min..attend to him...etc...until he falls asleep without the nuk?
when he was in the bassinett, it was fine, ebcause i could just reach over and give him his pacifier, but now that he is in his crib, i have to get up and go to his room. its getting really annoying.
serious answers only please!

I have been trying to conceive. January was my 1st month of trying. I was due for my period on Sunday, Feb 4th. It is now Tuesday. All of the at home pregnancy test I am taking are coming back negative. Can these tests take more time than 3 days since a missed period to read a positive result?

My baby is 4 1/2 months old and slept throught the night until he got an ear infection and now he is awake every two or three hours. Usually he goes back to sleep if i rock him but the dr thinks that we should push him to sleep through the night. The dr also said that we should just let him cry it out. So last night i let him cry and he fussed for 15 minutes and went to sleep then woke 5 minutes later screaming and i gave in. I cannot just let him cry like that. I know that you are not supose to go in and comfort him but i feel bad just letting him cry. Any suggestions on what i could try besides the cry it out method that kills me. I know I know i am being a softy but oh well.

I'm doing a survey- I want to know what the reasons are mothers who are married go to work- besides the normal "financial" answers. This question specifically targets mothers who have to use either daycare or nannies. I would like to know what they actually take home monetarily after the child care is paid for and if that really makes a difference in the end? How many hours per day are they away from their children? and Do their husbands pressure them to go to work or do they beg them to stay home?

When I deliver my son in the hospital. Do my mother and father has a right to say about what goes on in the hospital? Like I need survey or something? and my dad thinks that he can choose who gets visit me in the hospital. I think he planning on banning my babys father to see in the hospital and stuff. Im pretty sure he cant have no right what goes on in hospital, i have the rights who can see me...I think... Plus he doesnt have custody of me one bit. My mother does. So. I get to decide about who I want to see me, correct? Just wondering.
