I know they are good for you but the 35 a bottle is no chump change! Why can't I take something else?

I took them for as long as I was breastfeeding, but you can take them for as long as you'd like. They're very good for you.

How long do you take prenatal vitamins after birth of the baby?

You should keep taking them even until after the baby is weaned. They are very good for you, and if you are planning on having another baby in the future, it's a great thing for your body to have that nutrition beforehand!

Talk to your doctor about it too. There are other vitamins that are good to take after the baby is weaned. Prenatal vitamins have a big dose of folic acid, which is excellent for women in their childbearing years.

Good luck!

I just had my first baby a month ago and according to my doctor if you are breast feeding you should continue to take them until you stop at least. If you aren't breast feeding you should still take the prenatal vitamins for at least six weeks after you give birth. Your body needs those extra vitamins to keep you healthy.

You should take them while breast feeding. Are you buying prescription prenatals? You can get generic over the countere Prenatals for like $10 at your local store. Just use those. I have never used prescription prenatals, my doc says store available ones are just fine.

You can take normal multi vitamins,if you read the labels there is not much difference, folic acid is lower in multi's but I do not believe you need that anymore. Also if you by a generic brand it can be almost have the price and the exact same ingredients.

My doc had me on them for about four months after I delivered. When he initially wrote out the prescription in the beginning, he just made it good for a full year. I think I paid about $20+ per.

Worth it in my opinion. Can you get a generic? Maybe look into that...?

I'm still taking them because I'm still breastfeeding. But, I plan on taking a multi-vit after I finish breastfeeding, because I can tell I feel better.
