You probably have nothing to worry about but thoroughly clean the wound and keep an eye on it for infection. Maybe leave the little bugger alone until after you've had the baby. Get someone else to clean the cage and feed/water him. I'd be worried too..and angry..I'd probably want to feed the little bugger to my cat! lol, No that's not the answer..just keep an eye on the wound and maybe see a doctor. Good luck!

There is no sure way of telling until she has the babies. A day or two before she delivers she might get really fat, but that might not happen or it might be due to something other than pregnancy if she does. Gestation is 16 days, so that is when you will know. I hope you have prepared for what to do with the babies when they are weaned. Syrian hamsters are solitary and will fight to the death if caged together. Babies are sexually mature at 4 weeks and will start breeding with each other then, so you have to have them in separate cages at that point. Good luck.

I would imagine the only thing to be worried about is if the hamster has some kind of weird disease. If you've had it for a while, and it hasn't seemed sick, then it's probably ok. It's not like your hamster is out exploring the world and getting exposed to all kinds of germs. You might want to call your doctor just to be sure, but unless it seems sick or you just bought it recently, it's probably ok.

Just keep the wound clean and covered by a plaster or bandage so that it can't get any infections or dirt in it..
other than that i wouldn't worry too much unless it is a large wound.. maybe go and see a pharmacist if you are still worried and thay can advise you far better than I can.

There will be no harm other than being teased. I was bitten by a spider when I was 7 months and everyone was "sure" I would deliver a "spiderman". My son does bounce off the walls at times, but he doesn't climb them!!!

You're fine. Since the hamster is a pet, and not one of those wild, rabid rodents, I doubt any harm can come to your baby from such a bite. ;-)
Pregnancy can be a very worrisome time, can't it? I think it's a good precursor to all the worries of motherhood!
Congrats and feel better!

unless your hamster has some sort of weird diease, i don't think you need to be worried. I always get scratched by my cat (when shes trying to jump up on me.. not on purpose) and i don't mind. If its an indoor hamster (and most are.. lol) then i don't think you need to be worried.

All animals carry salmonella and you should make sure the bite is kept as clean as possible. If you develop any swelling see your GP. It is very unlikely that your baby will be harmed and hopefully you will get away without any infection.

Make use of your local friendly pharmacist - they have lots of knowledge about these things and can provide some decent antisepctic and reassurance. I wonder why people ask questions like this on here instead of getting proper medical advice!
