here in the uk if you are pregnant you take a hpt and go to the doctor with the result and if its + thats it you... get booked in for antenatal care and see a midwife between 6-12weeks.then have a dating scan etc
yet i see most ppl on here are having blood tests or having to wait for blood test results to find out if they are.why is it down to a blood test and not a hpt??
im just curious so dont all have ago at me plz !!!!
im on baby number 6 ( lost 1 ) and have only every had to do a hpt.

I'm 21 and in my last year of school and love my bf very much. until about a year ago i thought i would never want kids, then i thought maybe i would adopt. we started having sex in july and every time we do some weird part of me hopes the condom breaks or fails and i will get pregnant. i am not pregnant now but my period was 3 weeks late and i tokk a test right before it started. most ppl my age would be relived and i sort of am but i am also feeling a little depressed, like i was really hopin the test was wrong and that i was pregnant. i don't know what to do or think, i feel like i'm a bad person for wanting a baby when we aren't planning it now. how do i overcome these feelings?

I'm living in this program and I might be pregnant by this guy who lives in the apartments behind me. I want a baby too and so does
he... He wants it more than I do. I keep telling him that if I am I will tell my program after christmas because I need to devise a plan of my own.
I told him about the"institutional Abuse" policy... I told him that I can't tell the program that he's the baby's dad because he'll lose his apartment and probably get charges pressed. He's 20 and i'm 17.... He says that that isn't so... But I know better!
What should I do? Because I can't abort my child!

I am 25 weeks and am prone to UTI's. My urologist has had me on antibiotics since about 12 weeks and now says I need to be on them for my entire pregnancy. I'm taking Macrobid which is a pregnancy class b. She's consulted with my OB who says this is okay, but still I get nervous about taking any drugs especially for my entire pregnancy. Has anyone else had to be on medication for their whole pregnancy?

a father and daughter are very happy together. This is a joint custody case where the mother has physical custody. the father would like the next few years to raise his child. There is no abuse on either side.

breaking out on your back during pregnancy????? I have clear skin on my face and chest but my back is really bad. During the summer I would break out a little on my back from sweating while playing tennis, ( I was not pg then) But now it is terrible and I am not playing tennis that much as I live in New England and it is starting to be winter here. I bought the Neutragena body wash ans it has helped a tiny bit. I have tried Proactive as well. Has anyone else gone through this and will it go away after the baby is born??? I am 11 weeks and 4 days now. Thanks!!

Ever since the 1st grade my son as been acting up in school. There has been days he is good and then the days he is bad...he is really bad. He has been sent to the principle office twice less then a month for the same behavior. He talks back to the teacher, doesn't listen, or follow directions and walks around in the classroom. He wants to be in control of everything. Not to say for the past two years I feel his teachers are not strong teachers. I do not play with my son when he misbehaves in school. I have put him in football but since the season is over he as gotten worst. I'm a single mom, I work full-time and go to school two days out of the week. The teachers and I have put my son a behavioral program and it didn't matter to him. I have got to the point I don't know what to do and it seems to me the teachers don't know what to do either. Please someone help me with this issue. Thanks

I have several questions regarding what to do for my son.... (please don't tell me to talk to his doctor; I HAVE and I am just looking for second opinions) ...any experienced parents out there been through this before? Thanks!

1. How much solid food should my son be eating to prepare him for next month when we switch him from formula to whole milk? What should his diet be like when he turns one?

2. How should we go about that transition (should we cut out formula all at once, or gradually--how gradually)?

3. How much attention does he need during the day? It seems like the more I play with him the more he whines and wants even more attention, to the point I get nothing done all day but play with him.

4. What are some good games to play with a baby that age? He loves peek-a-boo and patty-cake and when I sing to him, but I dont know a lot of fun things to do with him at home.

5. What other changes should we make as he turns big 1, and what else should I know?

THANKS!

This isn't my problem, but was asked by one of my aunts... Her son is 11 years old and will be 12 in April. She received an email from a 14 year old girl, which she forwarded to us to help her out with her problem. The 14 year old girl insists that she's in love with my 11 yr old cousin and is doing the whole "let me prove it to you" bit. Now, seriously, 3 years isn't a big difference when you're an adult, but it's a huge difference at that age. How should she approach this girl and get it through to her that my cousin is too young to have a girlfriend of any kind? She doesn't want to be mean, but she also doesn't want Z to be "dating" some 14 year old girl.

I'm having really bad back problems at the minute and have been since 8 weeks pregnant (now 11 weeks), its the sciatic nerve, not just normal back pain. I know I havent done any lifting or straining to cause a back injury leading to sciatica. I read somewhere that it is possible for women to experience this as the uterus expands, if it puts pressure in the wrong area. But can it really be this at such an early stage?
Has anyone else had this, how did you deal with it?
I asked my doctor and all he could suggest was to find a chiropractor (sp?) but what will they be able to do if it is the uterus putting pressure on the nerve?

Any advice is welcome as I'm, in a lot of pain and still have to struggle on with work etc etc
FYI... I've tried using heat to ease it and the only pain killer I can have (paracetamol) doesnt do anything to help!!!

Thanks

Hi girls,

I have 2 beautiful boys aged 7 & 2. I have this obsession about having 3 kids but everyone around me think they can't cope with 2. I love kids, I know they are a lot of work but I just want to find out:

1. Who has 3 kids, and why did you decide to have 3?
2. How do you find being a mother of 3? Is it costly & exhausting?
3. Would you recommend 3 to anyone who want that?
4. Who couldn't have 3 and why?

Thanks girls for your help

i was only 3 tablets into a new pack when we decided to try for a baby but i stopped taking them straight away, i took the last one on september 30th. since then other than a bit of moodyness (!) and some slight cramping which lasted about 7 - 10 days but seems to have stopped now i have had no other pregnancy or pms symptoms. i have taken 3 hpts last one was last sunday (5th nov) all have come up negative. have been taking pregnacare daily and having regular sex but i was on the pill for 7 yrs non stop before we decided to try for a baby, could i be pregnant and not showing on tests or is it more likely that my periods are messed up a bit after being on the pill for so long?
