In respect and as a thank you for all they have done for us, I would call them after our parents.

Two girls would be named after our mothers
Two boys after our fathers
and a girl and boy, the boy after his father and the girl after my mother.

Honestly I think thinking of names ahead is fun and great to jot down, but I think you should fully decide after they are born wethe the names should be similar or different. You can even give it a day or so and pick a name that suits the child. Not a name that is picked simply because they are a twin. It is great to have some ideas but once you hold that baby you may find the name you thought was so grand does not fit your new bundle of joy for soeme reason so have names in mind but wait until they are born and you have had a moment to bond and then choose whatever name comes to mind. You will be surprised.!!

Andrew and Micheal
Becky and Emma
Becky & Andrew
Would keep different but so they trip of the toungue. After all they might always not want to be thought of as a pair but as two individuals but you don't want to sound like you've got a speech problem whenever you talk about them.

2 totally different names. Twins have a hard enough time not being told apart, identity issues! Giving them similar names just adds to the problem. We have twins in the family, lucily they're Matthew and Jason. Thank goodness it's not something like Justin and Jason!

I like the names of the twins who play football - Tiki and Ronde Barber. They are unique and different seperately, and unique and different as a pair. Did I say that right?

Twins will most likely be lifelong friends, so giving them unique names (i.e. not rhyming or similar) gives them a link as well as an individuality.

EDIT: Yes, this Yank is drinking his coffee. Those are American football players, so you may not have heard of them.

Edit #2: Give them the names of the maternal/paternal grandparents (or at least their middle names if you don't like the first names). I didn't like Oliver for my son's name, because I didn't want him called "Ollie". So I named him Jason Oliver. I was lucky with my daughter - my fav female name is Emily, and her grandmothers were Nancy Raye and Judy Rae - so she is Emily Rae! Both grammas were very happy.

Arthur and Martha
Bill and Ben
Penny and Lenny

Individuality is very important for them to grown up to be independant adults and to be respected as an individual and not half of a twin. I would give them each independant strong names!

I named my dog and cat candy and floss-get it? I would look at it as an oportunity to choose two name you genuinely really like, and dont think too much what they mean. I would call two boys Sebastian and Xavier, two girls Iris and Ursula(which i spose rhymes) or Ivan or Iris. I thus far have named each of my four with names beginning in vowels. Was trying to be different without being corny. So far noones ever noticed hehe.......

I kind of used to think I might have twins, because my husband's father was a twin (my husband's grandmother gave birth to THREE sets of twins!) I didn't have anything picked out for girls, but if I had boys, I liked "Dylan Conner" and "Duncan Cole"

How did I come up with these names???

Dylan - Kevin Sorbo's character on "Andromeda"
('Hercules' just seemed cheesy!)
Connor - "The Highlander" Connor McCleod
Duncan - "The Highlander" Duncan McCleod
Cole - Cole Turner, from "Charmed"
