Does your son sleep through the night? If he does it's because he is getting the rest he needs. Those other babies probably keep their parents up all night.

Well girl those other babies are simply not as alert as your son. My son has what a lot of people call "Bright eyes" which is probably what your son has as well. They are very alert and always want to know what's going on. Apparently that is a sympton of Generation X kids. Imagine your grandmothers and their mothers were born with their eyes closed. Alot has changed since those times. Babies just now might walk out the womb and talk lol.

Your son is absolutely normal and the more alert and bright eyed he is the more he will learn and assimilate his environment and become brilliant!!

Some babies are just naturally alert and 'wide-eyed'. I had 3 daughters and they were all different, but my oldest one was wide-eyed and alert. She would take naps of course, but when she was awake, she would look around the room, and her reflex eye action was amazing, she would follow anything with her eyes that got where she could see it. There is nothing abnormal with your son, or the other babies that look 'sleepy'. It is just the way things are. No two babies are the same.

My daughter was wide eyed after an hour and a half of been born. It was amazing to watch as I always expect babies to be scrunchy and sleepy for the first couple of days. She lay in that heated cot and just stared out at me like a little blinking doll. I thought she was just staring but everytime I sat up in bed or lay down her eyes followed. It just heightened the excitement of my new arrival!
Be proud your baby is absorbing as much stimulation as it can so young!

My daughter who is now 2 was like that, as soon as she was born her eyes were so wide everyone commented on it. My twins who are now 10 months weren't wide eyed at all! All babies are different, your son is just alert, he's going to be a clever one as he's taking everything in whilst all the other babies are sleeping! :)

My daughter does the same thing. My pediatrician said this is a sign of above-average intelligence. Your baby is just drinking in the world, and is stimulated by what he sees around him. No worries.

Also, my daughter is very hard to put down for a nap, and my pediatrician says that this is a sign of intelligence also, because she is aware that things go on without her and that she doesn't want to miss anything. She has made the connection that nothing interesting happens at night though, and goes to sleep like an angel every night. She is just now 7 months old.

Yep I've got one of those too, lol.

Happy, bright, alert, has almost non-existant naps during the day and sleeps through the night.

She's a gem and so were both my boys. I'm so grateful I have had such easy, smiley, observant babies.

They do seem to learn much easier too.

Do you also find that he appears to be older simply because he is so awake? A friend just said to me today that my six month old seems more like a one year old because of her alertness.

Enjoy him and cross your fingers that you have more just the same :-)

Don't worry sounds like you've got yourself a little button there!

My son was the same always looking around being nosey (he's 17 now!).

My great nephew was born 7 weeks ago and he's the same. Bright and curious!!

Enjoy!

My 3 week old seems to be exactly the same. He's awake through most of the day, quite happily looking around and taking in his surroundings. He then sleeps through the night.... I've no complaints at all !
