I just read in my local newspaper a couple of days ago that either congress or the senate (can't remember which) voted to lift a ban on the military enlisting people convicted of arson and assault with a deadly weapon. I know the military is desperate to recruit more people; but do they really want people like that carrying around automatic weapons and having the freedom to possibly shoot innocent civilians.

Or would doing so be a conflict in itself because citizens are not trained for war like y'all.

Yes, I am having fun, and I think the question is funny. You WOULD get A LOT of civilian volunteers, though!

I signed up for the Air Force about 2 weeks ago, and in the 2 week time span, I've talked to my recruiter twice (and those 2 times I called him just to see how everything is going). Not to sound like a like an obsess girlfriend or nothin, but why wont he call me? Could something possibly be wrong wit my signing up process? Whats goin on? I mean I dont even have his cell phone number (unlike other folks I know who have signed up for the Armed Forces) and the 2 times I called him, I called his office. Should I be worried?

I've been in the Navy for almost 10 years, and I'm going to reenlist for another 4 years. I've been told conflicting stories about changing the "home of record". One person has explained to me that it can only be changed when a person reenlists. However, I've been told by someone else that the "home of record" can never be changed. I have changed my "state of legal residence" to the state I intend on retiring too, but I'm wanting to change my home of record.

According to U.S. Representative Marilyn Musgrave, our nation’s legislators are now prohibited from using references to God in certificates of authenticity accompanying flags flown over the Capitol and bought by constituents. Such references include: "under God" in the pledge, "God bless you," or "in the year of our Lord, 2007." Never before has this official prohibition been leveled.

Architect of the Capitol Steven Ayers said he has removed the words because reference to God and the Lord may offend some Americans. He now prohibits them from being placed on official documents such as flag certificates.

Musgrave was astonished when she flew a flag over the U.S. Capitol building as a tribute to a senior citizen, and the accompanying certificate she received was edited with all religious references removed.Â

The congresswoman was more astounded when, upon further investigation, she discovered the certificate was censored by order of The Architect of the Capitol, an unelected very low-level official who manages the flag office.

Responding to a request for a flag flown over the United States Capitol in honor of a World War II veteran's 81st birthday, the congresswoman ordered the flag and a certificate to state: "This flag was flown for Mr. John Doe on the occasion of his 81st birthday, the eleventh day of July, in the year of our Lord, 2007. Thank you, Grandpa, for showing me what it is to be a true patriot -- to love God, family, and country. We love you!"

When the flag and certificate came back from the flag office, each reference to the Lord and God were removed. A group of lawmakers confronted architect Stephen Ayers seeking to find where he had the authority to restrict their freedom of speech and religious expression. Ayers refused to give the lawmakers a clear justification of his authority to delete the religious references. For more information: Capitol flag policy assailed (Washington Times).

Could it be the first gulf war? The second? Or the Battle of Termophylae when the Persians fought the Greek?

Remember I said battle...not victory, as in the battle of Termophylae, Sparta lost all of her men, but Persia lots 100s of times more men.

I asked the question of why didn't Ohio army recruiters accept me and some people put words in my mouth. When did I ever say that I owed childsupport and also obviously I am a man and it is a well known fact that the courts automatically grant the mother with child custody. Also about the disorderly conduct charge it was given to me out of the prejudice of two white police offoicers because they boldly lied on me to the judge and seeing how I'm young and black i guess that automatically makes me guilty. I had a clean record until I ran into racism. I am not a crimminal and I do work hard now maybe I am a little bit irresponsible when it comes to paying my tickets but come on should I be cruicified for that? To any people who read this know that I know that I stared racism in the face that cold day in January of 2004 and that I witness two white police officers who are supposed to protect and serve tell bold face lies on me. I am not a criminal nor have I ever been one.

I told the army recruiters that I had a suspended licence and that I owed some unpaid traffic tickets also that I had a disorderly conduct (misdeameanor) charge on my record from 2004. I am 25 years old and I have a daughter that I don't actually have custody of but I do pay childsupport for. After I told them these things they all basically hung up the phone on me and I called a few different recruiting offices just to hear the same thing. They told me that I had to pay off all that I old for tickets before I could join, but when I went to another state they said that I could still join the army.

Ok my husband and i have been trying to get pregnant for over three years now. We have one son but he passed shortly after he was born. I was 23 wks along and i had an appendicitis attack and had to go in for emergency surgery. We both came out of it but the pain meds i was receiving were to much for him and i gave birth 4 days later. He was just to small. Now we have tried every different position and that hasnt worked. I do not have regular periods so i cant do the whole calendar thing. I was wondering if anyone knows anything i can do to help me get pregnant. I have 2 months until my husband comes home for R&R from iraq and i really want to get pregnant at that time. If i go to the doctor, does he have to be there to in order for me to get pills to help me get pregnant? How does that work? Do i just go in and ask? I have no idea but he cant be there because he is deployed. We want a baby so badly but nothing is working. Help...PLEASE:( I am not overweight either.

say you've served your 2/4, whatever years and now you are back home as a civilian and have nothing to do with the military but you are still on inactive reserve since the 8 years is not up yet

is it very unlikely you'll get called up for active duty while on the IRR or it'll take like a world war?
