My dad did his boot camp in San Diego. This was in the late 60's. so anywhoo he was showing me his yearbook or whatever you call it from boot camp and i saw one pic with him in it and asked why he has such a face. he laughed and told me that he had his glasses on and when they where about to take his pic the DI slapped him on the back of the head and said " take your glasses off Mother F@cker" Do you have stories about your DI that you will not ever forget? thanks!

This article is not about me . The author is not my sister. I realy do not understand why this person would write an article like this .

Why would a family member under mind her brother this way?
A student at Columbia is taking pot shots at her brothers decision to enroll at the Naval Academy.

The Truth About the Academies
By Idris Leppla
PUBLISHED SEPTEMBER 7, 2007

The following is the first part of a four-part series. The author wishes to express that this article in no way reflects the feelings and thoughts of her brother. It is written from a family member’s perspective and is meant to be understood in that way.

know why I chose Columbia: the campus is magnificent, the education is top-tier, and my peers are intelligent. I could look at a stranger, tell him or her that I went to Columbia, and hear the predictable, “Wow, you must be smart.”

I do not support the war in Iraq. I do not support the defamation of our constitution that has happened in our country in the last 21 years. But I do wish to have a good career with stable benefits and wages. And the discipline could do me some good to. My question....Do I sound like someone that you would mind being in a foxhole with? Is there anyone in the service that shares my beliefs?

For starters, i did 4 yrs in active duty AF as enlisted but currently in the reserves; I'm gonna take the AFOQT next month and just wanted to know (from those who've been there already) how long does it take to actually sign the contract (and get payed) to go into active duty? I understand that i have to be a cadet in ROTC and at some time in my education i'd have to go to an officer BMT for a few weeks. Would doubling up on classes be recommended or is the accademic burden too heavy to take if i was to double up? Especially if i work to pay for living expenses? In a nutshell, my missing of active duty has turned into a longing and I don't wanna play any games. Any advice would help but preferably from those who've been there and done that.

I can tell she is loosing her mind because she is a very emotional person but lately she has been just insane towards me. If anyone has is in 42 alpha or human resources in the Army then do u know if civilians can come on post at any time to pick up a soldier? If i can is it worth moving down there to put her mind at ease?

I feel like a Kid before Christmas, everyday I check the News, hoping that Amercia will start Bombing Iran,it will make watching TV so much fun,it would be like a Great War movie to watch!America's Military will except a quick victory and like in Afghanistan and Iraq it will turn into more than America bargined for.Iran has a Military that can fight back, along with Jet Fighters,A Submarine Fleet that can cause real problems for the U.S.Navy that now surrounds Iran.I can't wait for all this Exciment to begin! Does anyone else out there feel the same way or am I the only one?

Anyway, i'm not sure what to do in selecting a branch. At my school i can attend Army ROTC, or Navy NROTC. The Air Force won't take me so lets rule them out. I have a passion for aviation and i want to fly. So the Army is telling me they can give me guaranteed flight training after ROTC and YES this will be in my contract before committing. I think in the Army I’ll have more pride because of their role in all the past wars but I also know I’ll be in bigger risk and will be in the desert for year tours. I also feel though in the long run I can advance in rank quicker since it’s a bigger organization. And i will always be in shape. Now the Navy said that they can’t guarantee anything but since he’s been recruiting every person who requested aviation got it. I’m not sure if I believe that. Now the appealing thing about the navy are their base locations and facilities. On tour they’re at sea 8 months at a time but they stop at cool places but is it worth it though at sea? whatdoido

Anyone republican or democrat would not be elected into power if they kept the Iraq war going with the draft.

Therefore they are using the same troops over and over again, compare this with the Sin of David, where he kept Uriah in battle until he died so that David could obtain the prize of Uriah's wife (2nd book of Samual, chapter 11):

14 ¶ And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Jo'ab, and sent it by the hand of Uri'ah.

15 And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uri'ah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.

Its not a perfect analogy, but is there something parallel going on here?
