You could try. You need to be in good shape for the military. If not, basic training, will be a nightmare.

Basic training is pretty easy now...you still have to run, do pushups...etc. but compared to the Marines it's a lot less.

It all depends on how 'out of shape' you are...the AF has standards for height/weight...if you're too big, you may not get in, but if you're just normal body size and only out of shape, it should be no problem for you.

If you want to get ahead of the rest, start to workout a little now, you still have to go and pass a physical...it's not too strenuous but you still are required to do some things. Ask your recruiter what the goal is at the examination...and then do double...you should be OK...good luck.

If you don't know if you are military material, then the Air Force is for you. You don't work out? No problem, neither does the Chair Farce. Oops, I forgot, twice a year you have to ride a stationary bike for 15 minutes to prove you are still in shape. (And yes, according to Chair Farce regulation, ROUND is a shape). You will also attend Beauty School. The Chair Farce will ensure that you know how to apply underarm deodorant properly, as well know exactly how to comb your hair and shave. Enjoy!

Good....you're a geek. You will fit in nicely. Now they dont have to train you, Thats.....what? 3 million $ and some change? Seriously....the AF is the most laid back of all the services when it comes to physical training. If you can walk to the mess hall without an oxygen bottle, your in like Flint.
Good Luck Future Zoomie !!

well...yes but you will have to pass some physical standards. Lets say I knew quite a few geeks in the AF during my 13 year association. You will have to work out a bit but nothing like the Army or the Marines.

My father, brother and sister in law were all in the Air Force. I think you can be an airman, but you probably WILL be in shape after basic training :) That's part of what they do - get you ready for the job. Good luck!

Air Force is definitely on the easier side of the physical standards. You should be okay, try doing some push-ups and sit-ups in your spare time. And you need to be able to run 2-miles in 18 minutes.

If you join the Air force, when they are finished with your basic training, you will not recognize the guy who signed up.

They will make a man of you.
