Alexander Marinesko, the famous Russian submariner.
During 2 consequent attacks he sunk 2 German ships, Wilhelm Gustloff and Steuben with 13000 enemies on board, including 1200 Nazi submariners.
Also, he sunk 2 Finnish and 1 Dutch transports.

Personal killings: Russian snipers Vassily Zaitsev (242 German troops, mostly officers), Mikhail Surkov (702), Feodor Okhlopkov (429).

The Russians used some female snipers during WW2 and claimed 307 kills for Ludmila Pavlichenko, not bad with a model 1891 (or more correctly a "91/30") Moisin-Nagant rifle with a rotten trigger pull and a tiny scope. The top Russian claim was for a man, Mikhail Surkov, with 702 kills.

The U.S. guy would be Marine sniper Carlos Hathcock, who had 93 confirmed kills during his service in Korea and Viet Nam, and an estimated score that was also well over 300. He generally took longer shots in jungle conditions, and also used a bolt action rifle for accuracy. He made some shots out to 2000 yards with a .50 caliber machine gun, with a scope on it. We didn't have .50 caliber Barrett rifles then.

Would you really brag? Apparently you have never even been close to being put in that situation. Nobody brags, except the freaks that liked doing it.

Alvin York and Audie Murphy. Two very interesting people. Alvin York was a conscientious objector (or religious grounds) and Audie Murphy was rejected by the Marines and the Paratroopers because he was too small.

Oops, good point Jimmy - them and the Nagasaki guys.
