I'm doing research for a book and just want to find out a few things and you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find exactly what I'm looking for.
Which units are fighting in the middle of a war and what is the leader of each unit called?
What are the conditions of a discharge and how long would it be for a person to be transferred back home?
what guns do they use?
And other equipment that they carry?

Thanks to everone who replies

I am thinking about NROTC and I know that if I want to do it then I need start now. I would want to be a SWO when I graduate, but my question is do you think I would qualify:

4.35 gpa,1200 SAT(old model), IB college credit (1years worth in Bio), 150 community hours, officer in Young Republicans, NHS, and a member of Boys State.

How likely do you think I could get a scholarship. I know that my SAT isn't very good, I'm going to take it again, will I be able to use that score? I want to major in Chemistry so would that help me because I know the Navy wants technical majors. Also, if I want to join later, could i join NROTC at the university during my sophmore year and apply for a 2 year scholarship then? Thanks for all who answer.

How can some one stand there and watch their loved one being pushed around, hurt or even killed and not do anything? Ok how about this one. Every body has been to school, what happends when you have a bully picking on you and you do nothing about it? It just gets worse till you stand up for your self. The soldiers are over there standing up for this country day after day. Fighting for their friends and loved ones. They are the reason we get to pick our religon or have the ability to grow up to be what we want. And yet day after day there are people who protest the war not even considering that those soldiers are the reason they have the right to protest. Everybody probibly knows at least one person that is over there and yet instead of supporting their desiton, they tair them down. Yeah fighting is not a good thing, but sometimes it is nessesary. So my question is this. How can someone appricate the freedom we have in this country, then turn around and get mad at those people who help

Assuming that the csi kind of stuff with the fingerprint database on the computer and crap is actually true, does joining the army get my fingerprint added to that? I'm not so sure I'd want to join if it means I'd have to wear gloves if I later became a burglar =(

they claim to be our closest ally, but they are not even giving 1/4 the effort we are. we have over 200000 troops in iraq and the uk has less than 15000. If they claim to want to see us win, then why dont they send in more troops to aid us. we are the only thing keeping that country together, the least they can do is help more. Mabye they forgot we saved them in WWII.
Or mabye its because they are preparing and regrouping in account from chinas large military buildup, and russias unpredictable actions. could this be?

This isn't really a political question BUT I would like to know people's personal experiences or opinions.

Hubby and I just found out we are pregnant like we planned. Do civilian hospitals or military hospitals offer better care overall during pregnancy and birth?

My husband is in the Army and said a lot of his buddies told him to get the care off post. Will Tricare cover the medical care if I do decide to go off post?

What are your opinions?

I have Bipolar Disorder. I had an army recruiter call me and they asked me a series of questions. One was if I take medications or if I have in the last year. I said yes I do, I take Seroquel for my bipolar disorder. She said well you can't join then. I said why not? She said you are not allowed to take medication when you are in the military. I told her that it is a lifelong illness and I can't help it. She said I am sorry but you cannot join. Have a good day sir.

I'm a former Marine wanting to re-enlist in the Army Reserve or Guard. The initial phone interview with the Army said there was a waiver for Kidney Donation. Now the recruiter said no, only for active military. Has anyone heard of the waiver, shared this experience? I know that there are active military with one kidney. Just wanting to know any information on this. Thanks.

Honest question, why can there be no intelligent debate right now? How come extending tours of duty is the patriotic thing? We're losing too many good guys. Honor their sacrafice, but keep em out of harms way whenever possible.

Is it as bad as a civilian claiming to be a war hero, (but never served a day in the Military)
Such as a retired servicemember claiming heroism and wearing medal for which they do not rate? Claiming to have been deployed to Iraq (and PTSD), but actually they never left the CONUS?

"Message: I'm an honorably discharged USAF veteran (1983-1987) AND I have been serving my country as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer for the last NINE years and I can still manage to walk.

Sorry to hear that you were such a sad excuse for a seaman that you couldn't even manage to do you job without permanently disabling yourself! Hopefully you didn't get anyone else killed with your ignorance and incompetence.

Understandably you are bitter and angry over your failiure in the military, which explains why you lash out while hiding behind a keyboard at patriotic Americans that still serve this great nation, while all you do is load up your adult diapers and whine!

Don't worry there gimp, as long as MEN like me are around to protect you, you don't have to be upset and afraid all the time. "

I have a right to call him a traitor right? I am a disabled vetran who was injured repairing an SH-60 and he calls me a Chicken hawk and a sad excuse for a sailor?
