How can some one stand there and watch their loved one being pushed around, hurt or even killed and not do anything? Ok how about this one. Every body has been to school, what happends when you have a bully picking on you and you do nothing about it? It just gets worse till you stand up for your self. The soldiers are over there standing up for this country day after day. Fighting for their friends and loved ones. They are the reason we get to pick our religon or have the ability to grow up to be what we want. And yet day after day there are people who protest the war not even considering that those soldiers are the reason they have the right to protest. Everybody probibly knows at least one person that is over there and yet instead of supporting their desiton, they tair them down. Yeah fighting is not a good thing, but sometimes it is nessesary. So my question is this. How can someone appricate the freedom we have in this country, then turn around and get mad at those people who help

Ok to those who are saying they protest the war not the soldires, thats just splitting hairs. Their wouldn't be a war if there weren't any soldiers, and Im sure the ones that get to return home to your nice welcoming commities aren't saying 'Oh well as long as its not aimed towards me'

Luckily a good number of people in this country still see things the way you and I do.

Chance_20,
I think you're failing to understand that the reason things aren't blowing up here is because terrorists now have the more inexpensive option of roadtripping to Iraq and (often with the help of their own govt) enter Iraq and fight and get killed by me and my guys. We VOLUNTEER to go there for exactly that reason. If we arent there, where do most of those terrorists go to pursue their life long mission of killing an american so they can go to heaven? Where will they go? You REALLY think this wr is not neccessary? When thousands of people are taught to hate you and that the only way to heaven is to kill you...Theres going to be a battle, I want US to pick the battlefield
---
For those of you saying you can "support the troops but not the war."
I just want to point out that we dont feel very supported 3,000 miles away when we hear people saying we're fighting an illegal war, we're dying for nothing. thats not support, it only demoralizes us. And for those of you who think we're brainwashed, the majority of US Forces are very intelligent young people and ALL of us have either enlisted OR RE-enlisted or EXTENDED our enlistments SINCE the war has been going on. Please tell me how calling me a murdered or saying I'm fighting for nothing when I can SEE what I'm fighting for with my two eyes, is supporting me.

Also chance20, you said some of the troops dont support the war. Anti-war anti-bush troops are a severe minority in the US Military and most of those ones are not going to re-enlist.
Most of those Anti-war troops joined for college, I know a few of them. If you really were in the military and I have no doubt that you were, then you know this as well as I do.

O.K. Just because I do not support the war does not mean that I do not support the troops...I support the troops 100%. I don't believe that they should be dying for absolutely no reason. I think it is wrong that they are over there fighting...getting hurt...dying for someone else's mistake. I don't agree with the fact that the ones who do fight for this country don't know what the hell they are fighting for. I don't agree that some children may never meet their fathers...I don't agree that families are grieving right now because they lost a loved one. Yes I know a soldier serving right now and I support him. But how can I support the war, when he doesn't...How can I support the war when he doesn't know what he's fighting for?

Opposing the war isn't necessarily an act of narrow-mindedness. Nor is opposing the war an indicator that anyone is "mad" at the soldiers. Many of the people who oppose the war do so because of a strongly-held belief that the Bush administration is, at best, on the wrong track or, more likely, engaging in out and out deception to further their political agenda. The act of opposing the war may also show a very strong desire to support and protect the troops by getting them out of harm's way.

I am not opposed to war in general, there are times that war is necessary. I am opposed to continuing with this war because I do not believe that we were told the truth by the Bush administration; because I don't believe that its in the best interest of the nation to keep our troops over there; and, because I don't believe that it's going to succeed in combating or defeating terrorism . I also can't think of any better way to support our troops than to get them out of there.

As for standing up to the bully, and by that I am guessing that you mean the terrorists, I don't know that we are accomplishing that in Iraq.

In this country we all have a right to voice our opinions. We also have a responsibility to speak up when we believe that something is wrong.

I Strongly support our country and our troops. I personally believe if they ( the terrorist) should start a conflict we should use every means to Finish it. Those running for president or any other office should not have the authority to pull are troops until the Iraq war is completed.First and lastly the news media needs to get the Heck out and stop sending these war stories and images back home. Let our troops do their job!

You are oversimplifying things, in my opinion. The vast majority of criticism about the war is not directed against the troops. Yes, some yahoo trolls make moronic comments, but for the majority of people against the war there is no disrespect for the troops.

Specifically, you say, " fighting is not a good thing, but sometimes it is nessesary." I, and many others (liberal AND conservative) no longer believe this fight is necessary. You go on to ask, "How can someone appricate the freedom we have in this country, then turn around and get mad at those people who help" As I said above, very few people do.

==Edit==
It is NOT just splitting hairs. Ask the Vietnam vets who were blamed. THAT is what happens when people don't support the troops.

But more importantly, your question presents the entire system backwards. If we send troops into a conflict that I do not agree with, by your logic I shouldn't do anything about it. By your logic, any war automatically becomes okay because we have to "support the troops", and we can only support the troops by supporting the war. That is illogical. Worse, it is madness. Heck, there are numerous soldiers who themselves do not agree with the war. Are they not "supporting" themselves?

As I said, your question oversimplifies many things.

==Edit 2==
To James: That's just the point James, we didn't pick the battlefield, they did and still do. By the Pentagon's own estimate, 90% of the insurgents are Iraqi, and less than 10% are foreign fighters and al Qa'ida. The insurgency has been estimated at about 50,000 in most estimates. If correct, that means there are 5,000 AQIZ. If there are actually that many, then trust me, AQ doesn't have any manpower problems. If AQ doesn't have manpower problems, then that strongly suggests they are using Iraq for 2 things: recruiting, and training. As long as we have a presence, they will have a steady supply of recruits with a grievance against the US, and an oppurtunity to learn and adapt to our tactics. You don't fight a snake by attacking the tail. You go after the head. That's why I wanted to weep when I heard Bush say Bin Laden was no longer "relevant". You and your guys could kill AQ in the desert for the next 50 years and it won't win the war.

You think I want us to lose a war? You think I don't care? You don't think I live in a military town, with neighbors still serving? You think I don't have friends in the desert right now? You think I didn't wear a uniform too? I care, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna fall for the party line on this one.

I went to war for Mr. Bush, twice. That doesn't mean I agree with the war. In fact, i am really against the war and think all soldiers deserve a detailed explination on why we were sent to Iraq when it was Afghanastan who was responsible for 9/11.

maximum folk experience they could desire to shop different's souls. even however they do no longer want saving. If 2 adult men or women human beings prefer to love one yet another, get married and function toddlers, what employer is it of all people's. in basic terms be happy for them. they do no longer seem to be going to experience extra sensible while human beings tell them that what they are doing is misguided and that they're going to pass to Hell. that would not sound very Christian in any respect. however, whats up this is not in basic terms Christians that are making those judgments.

Most of the people I know who protest protest the war, not the soldiers, and advocate bringing them home.

However, there are still those inconsiderate jerks who are stuck in the Vietnam era who like to point fingers at the soldiers. They do this because they have nothing better to do, and they must make themselves feel better about their own cowardice at not joining up by taking it out on the people who were brave enough to join. These people make me sick, don't listen to any of them and support our troops.

Yo.....leif tanner, that was uncalled for.......dude seriously that crossed the big, thick, glow in the dark line. Does it make you feel big to yell at people who admit they are young? she is trying to gain some knowledge she is not waving her American flag around.....I think you are just pissed off so I'm not gonna start cursing, but seriously dude, calm down and think about what you just said. Well said. I will support my country regardless who we are fighting. These people that you talk about don't know the first thing about being a patriot. They are more worried about pushing their socialist agenda onto people that have no interest in their kooky ideas. All of the things you mentioned are the things that we have fought so hard for. Just because freedom has the word free in it, doesn't mean that it is free.
