While they are pathetic, the one who were in the military are not nearly as pathetic as those who are too cowardly to serve. Even worse are those who couldn't serve when it was thier turn but are all about sending someone else out to get killed.
Believe me, the last people I would want to be in a Foxhole with are Bush or Cheyney

Good question. I'm a veteran from 1969 to 1975. I've always wondered why I'm the only man in the military who never acted like John Wayne, I never fired a machine gun from the hip as I screamed bloody murder, I never did hand to hand combat, I only had a couple of medals that all military people get. (Dept of Defese medal) My chest was mostly bare of medals. Heck! I had more dog hair on my uniform than medals. (I was a dog handler) Man! I meet people in bars (Veterans) and I must have had the most boring job in the military. I saw no action compared to these super Veterans.

1ST TO THE PERSON WHO SAID
It is rather annoying. I have an ex who spent time in the Marines but never saw battle and he calls himself a vet. UGH!
HE IS A VET YOU KNUCKLEHEAD!!!! IT IS SHORT FOR VETERAN (SOME ONE WHO SERVED IN THE MILITARY) NOT COMBAT SO HE IS CORRECT IN SAYING HE IS A VET.
As a mArine who has seen combat (I guess I would have the same felling even if I hadnt) is that it is less forgivable for someone who has served becuase they should know better.
Either way is dispicable.

Basically, they are liars.
But bear in mind, you can have a medal and not have "served" in a particular region.
During Operation Desert Shield/Storm, the guys in boot camp on the very first day of the operation were allowed to wear the medal.

Insecure idiots---or narcissists
real heros don't often talk about such things.
You ever hear about a guy named John Kerry?
The day I left boot camp, I had to wear a medal on my chest.
It was embarrassing.

I have an idea for you: Enlist in the Army, go to Iraq, get shot at, come home, THEN you can talk about other people and their war records. Don't talk the talk if you can't walk the walk !!!!! Also, I take exception with your screen name "anti-patriotic".

Fortunately they have enacted laws to allow prosecution of "Stolen Valor" cases. So I think the matter has been taken care of. There are always a few of these miscreants around, but there are getting to be fewer of them.

Well, it's against the law for one thing. The Stolen Valor Act. But, to me, it's just as bad as the politician who overstates his accomplishments.
