If you're 80 years old they age discriminate
BECAUSE STATISTICALLY YOU CAN'T DO THE JOB
If you're pregnant you can't go to Iraq they discriminate
BECAUSE STATISTICALLY YOU CAN'T DO THE JOB
If you have asthma, they medically discriminate
BECAUSE STATISTICALLY YOU CAN'T DO THE JOB
It's not discrimination, it's the safety of America, and all you politcally correct people need to learn the difference.
Additionally, there are many places in Iraq where medical facilities are scarce to say the least, what if you can't get your meds? You'd be pretty screwed. You're answer may be "don't send me to those places" but then you are discriminating on the people without bi-polar disorder.
Have a good day sir!

Yes, they discriminate, but they are allowed to, and that is okay. I mean, maybe it's possible to be in a wheelchair and be a bad @ss infantryman, but I doubt it. In your case, bipolar disorder could potentially cause problems down the line. How do they know you won't hurt yourselves or others?
You could always apply for a civilian federal job, they can't discriminate based on that for most jobs.

no it is not discrimination. you have a medical illness that requires you to be on medication for the rest of your life. the military cannot and will not promise that you will have ready access to that medication at all times. therefore, to protect you and them, you are Permanently disqualified from ever serving. In ANY branch of the Armed Forces.
the Military had minimum standards, which you do not meet. it is not a right to serve, it is a privilege.

Unfortunately, the military is correct. If one is diagnosed with certain disorders it is a barment from entering the military. Common ones are but not limited to, bipolar, ADD, AHDD, Depression, Insomnia, etc, etc...

No it i8s not discrimination. The military, all the branches of it, deny many people acces because of muscle injuries, sight problems, and pschycological problems. To be in the air force you can't even wear glasses.
If you couldn't see, or run or had a seizure or something while in combat, you can get injured. It is not discrimination, they are just trying to keep you safe.

It is not discrimination, it is a fact of life. Some people have disabilities which would endanger either themselves or others in a combat environment. Logistics could not guarantee they could get you your medication if you were in a forward area. How do you think your problem would affect your ability to to make a shoot/dont shoot decision if you were not under control? I applaud your desire to serve your country, but unfortunately you will not be able to do it this way. Perhaps you should consider the peace corps or conservation corps.

Consider yourself lucky. You can't even get drafted if the reinstate it. The best thing about you not being able to join is that you will not be a pawn for a domestically repressive government and an internationally opressive government. It seems your bipolar disorder has actually saved your soul. You are not guilty of crimes against humanity because you couldn't join.
