I am thinking about NROTC and I know that if I want to do it then I need start now. I would want to be a SWO when I graduate, but my question is do you think I would qualify:

4.35 gpa,1200 SAT(old model), IB college credit (1years worth in Bio), 150 community hours, officer in Young Republicans, NHS, and a member of Boys State.

How likely do you think I could get a scholarship. I know that my SAT isn't very good, I'm going to take it again, will I be able to use that score? I want to major in Chemistry so would that help me because I know the Navy wants technical majors. Also, if I want to join later, could i join NROTC at the university during my sophmore year and apply for a 2 year scholarship then? Thanks for all who answer.

you don't have to accept money the first two years of ROTC, so if you don't get a scholarship, drill anyway, which will help you the next year when you apply again for the scholarship. the first two years you incur no service obligation.

You should have a pretty good shot at getting a scholarship. Even if you don't, you can enroll as college program, get some of the same benefits, and receive a federal scholarship based on your college grades.

Depending on your age now, you might look into the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps. This is a program for 13 to 18 year olds that give great training and insight into the military right now. It also can go a long way to help you out on your NROTC app.

Also, you might consider the Naval Academy. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but there are times when acceptance into the Academy (or Naval Academy Preparatory School, NAPS) is less competitive than NROTC.

I doubt heavily you've gotten a project stepping into ROTC, the standards are no longer severe. Your dads service does no longer come into play. ROTC is susceptible coaching militarily in spite of the undeniable fact that, even if i assume it does no longer be counted lots in case you will significant in a technical field and flow army. Get on it now nonetheless, discover out what your college desires in terms of place of work work, and so on and don't wait using fact those issues each and every each and every so often take months and you desire to be earlier than the ability curve. that's a great thank you to pay for faculty and that they even supply your cash each and each month i think. additionally, observe of the criminal duty to the militia when you end.
