I just asked because people always react differently when I tell them I am joining the Army...just today i told this lady that I know that I was leaving for Army and the first thing out of her mouth was,"Ohhh whyyyyyyy"???? Like no type of good for you or anything like that..it was just like its the worst move I could make. I know people are not always going to understand why and I do not have to justify to people as to why but Im confident in my decisions I make in life and know that this is where I should be....Im a true believer in God and know that all things are meant to be within due time. What do I tell people that give me these type of reactions?? It just makes me feel sort of like I question my decision only because they do and I know I shouldn't................

Here are some details on me
-I am still pretty young (21) and single
-I am healthy (as far as I know) and I would say I am in fairly good shape
- I have no criminal record and I am currently an Aux. Policemen for my hometown
-I have no history of mental illness, but I have seen counselsors briefly before for troubles in school (once in 4th grade and once in 9th). They were basically to check to see if I was okay and nothing bad came from it. Nonetheless I have had never had a mental illness or condition. Seeing counselsors in the past does not keep you from joing right?
-I do not take any medications. I have only taken one medication and that was for ance.
-I have had jaw surgery when I was 12 to fix an underbit and still have a metal plate in my jaw. Can I still join with this?
-Sometimes my right elbow clicks when I do push ups for tricep excercies (but it does not hurt as all). Can this be bad for boot camp?

my good friend is telling me that he is enlisted in the army and is currently in boot camp, i have trioubles believing that considering that he is a pathelogical liar and has previously talked about how he would never join. I'm fully for people enlisting and such but i find it unpatriotic to lie about this issue. i want to know is there a way for me to find out if he is actually enlisted?

I read on the official website that if you have a college degree before you enlist, you can enlist as an officer. I would like to know what exactly that entails, Will I start out the same as the basic recruit? How does all that work?

My husband got a (measly) sign on bonus when he joind the Army Reserves. Well one year later he switched over to active duty but did not get another bonus since he received on the previous year from joining the reserves. Well now the Army is making him pay back the bonus!!! They are withdrawing it from his checks. This is a year into active duty, he has 2 more years of active duty left, is going to Iraq in 11 months as a petroleum supply specialist. Why isn't he getting a bonus? He signed on as an active duty soldier in a time of war!!! Help us please, he is my husband. Thanks you

I've heard that if you extend your one year tour to a 2 year tour, that you might be able to move your family out there with you. Is this true? Please only answer if you have knowledge of things like this. Thanks! He is in the Army, and is in AIT right now, so he's only an E-2 (will be E-3 when he goes to Korea). I've heard that if you don't have a high rank, the odds are unlikely?

From the BBC today:
Russia sparks Cold War scramble

The Tu-95 pilots exchanged smiles with their US counterparts
Russian bombers have flown to the US Pacific island of Guam in a manoeuvre reminiscent of the Cold War era.

Two Tu-95 turboprops flew this week to Guam, home to a big US military base, Russian Maj Gen Pavel Androsov said, a story confirmed by the US.

They "exchanged smiles" with US pilots who scrambled to track them, he added.
The sorties, believed to be the first since the Cold War ended, come as Russia stresses a more assertive foreign policy, correspondents say.
The flight is part of a pattern of more expansive Russian military operations in recent weeks, says BBC diplomatic correspondent Jonathan Marcus.

Old practice
Gen Androsov said the strategic bombers had flown 13 hours from their base in the Russian Far East during the exercise. We prepared to intercept the bombers but they did not come close enough to a US Navy ship or to the island of Guam to warrant it.

My sons dad went to a military prison about a month before our son was born, the military promised if I helped in the case I would get child support and our son would get military benefits. A few weeks after our son was born I went to Social Services and filed for child support and was told I could not get it due to my sons dad being in prison, I told them what the military told me and they called up one of the people in charge of the case, the person told the people at the social services office I could not get it, I was basically used.

What I want to know is if there is actually any way for me to get child support? The military loves to lie and this one women I use to work with claimed to have been receiving child support from her military ex boyfriend who was in jail.
