my good friend is telling me that he is enlisted in the army and is currently in boot camp, i have trioubles believing that considering that he is a pathelogical liar and has previously talked about how he would never join. I'm fully for people enlisting and such but i find it unpatriotic to lie about this issue. i want to know is there a way for me to find out if he is actually enlisted?

Ask him things that only someone in boot camp would actually know. Here are some questions:

-What's your drill sergeants name?
-What's the name of your platoon?
-What color phase are you in?
-Where are you going for AIT?

You can even just ask for an address to write to him. If it's not at a fort that he's not in boot camp.

How are you even speaking to him? There's no way you two can possibly have extensive conversations while he's there. They usually only get 1 phone call a week which last between 5-10 minutes.

First, you know he's lying since the Army do not call their training Boot Camp, it's Basic Combat Training. Marines call it Boot Camp and I'll seriously doubt if he has the time to tell you he's at Basic because of time restrictions. Ask questions. It'll be easier to prove he's lying that way.

if his is currently in training, he wouldn't be calling or emailing, as he would have no access whatsoever. Army calls it basic Combat training. Only the Marines and Navy call it Boot Camp.

Where is his boot camp? Did he say? That will tell you something. Any recruiter will tell you where the boot camps are located.

Or walk into the Army recruiter and tell them you want to go to basic where your friend (give them the name) is.

Just wait and see. Either he will forget about his own lie or he will just be serious and start telling you random things that make sense. But how can you call this person your friend if you think they are a liar?

If you have access to AKO, you can use the white pages to look him up and see. It gives people in the army the ability to look up anyone else associated with the army and what unit they are in.
