I'm in a reserve unit so I'll be coming home after Ait. and theres only like a weekend off between BCT and AIT. I wanna know from someone with personal experience if after reception, BCT, AIT, Graduation etc, what would be the best guess that I would be home. Im sure it's January but I would like specifics.

I went to Leonardwood for MP Training back in the summers of '04 and '05 through the Split Op Program. Basic with travel time and reception was 70 days total. AIT with reception and travel time was 88 days total. They had also just extended 31B AIT by 2 weeks not long before I got there. It had gone from 8, to 10 weeks. So unless it has changed or pending any hangups, and since you are only going to Reception once, you will be back somewhere in the vicinity of January 14th. However, I'm not sure if they let recruits out for X-mas and New year now or not. If they do, that will delay your return date by about 1-2 weeks. So You should be back sometime in the 2nd half of January to early February if they do.

Also, reception is about the most god awful place to be. The other 19 weeks of all the other training was heaven compared to sitting in reception for hours upon hours upon hours. For some reason, there are a number of suicide attempts in reception as well! But it will soon pass and soon enough you will be off to begin Basic.

You are also going in the fall/winter months. I had gone both times in the summer between my years in college, so I didn't get a chance to see the winter, but from the pictures I've seen and the people I've talked to, it is freaking cold. There will be snow everywhere and you'll be freezing your @ss off in the field. Summers are incredibly hot and humid, but that won't stay long. Also after Basic Training, there will not be anymore major ruckmarches as everything in AIT is in the HMMWV's.

I wish you the best of luck and if you need any help or advice or anything before you head off, feel free to shoot me an e-mail through here. I hope you get the 787 MP BN, they have the newest and nicest barracks! B-787 all the way!

depends on how long 31b AIT is. I'm a 15H and my ait was 4 months.. but laundry service has only 2 weeks.. plus if you get hurt that will hold you back. And i was in reception for 2 weeks when i went to basic.. so i ended up being there for 11 weeks. Just depends when they can get you in the unit and stuff. But yours will probably only be 10 weeks because you're going in august. And i went to Leonard Wood too... Charlie 1-48!!!

you could get held back in either Basic or AIT for any number of reasons.

home when exactly? you get leave enroute after AIT before your first duty station. I'm not sure if this is what you are asking.
