The battle was fought on October 3 and 4,1993
The actually Somali figures are unknown but the U.S. estimates between 1000 and 1500 Somalia militiamen and civilians lost there lives in the battle, with another 3,000- 4,000 of them sustaining injuries

The truth is, nobody has any idea. It's estimated that over 1000 had died (see the book), though some put the figure as high as 2000. The "consensus" that Mark Bowden (the author of the book upon which the movie was based on) was between 1000 and 1500.

If you mean from the time "Irene" commenced until the time they reached the stadium under UN control, 17 hours non-stop. "Irene" was issued at 1530, and they reached the stadium at 0520.

Not sure of the entire incident's casualty totals, but the part the always comes to mind first is how those couple Delta guys went in to check on the second one and were responsible for over 100+ confirmed kills. Two guys in an open area, the enemy has both cover and the higher ground advantage, and they still took out over a hundred of them--or was it 200. That's Delta for ya.

I'm thinking Thousands, from what I heard from my Drill SGTs. He said 12yr old kids with AK's would point their weapon at them, and that's when they became targets, due to the rules of engagement. He said many would taunt and flick them off.
