Okay some people are right and some people are wrong. There is an age limit for enlisting in the military and some of the age limits are different for different branches:

http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/enlstandards.htm
Active Army - 42
Army Reserves - 42
Active Air Force - 27
Air Force Reserve - 34
Active Navy - 34
Naval Reserves - 39
Active Marines - 28
Marine Corps Reserve - 29
Active and Reserve Coast Guard - 27

You can join at the age of 17 with parent permission or just wait until you are 18 and do it on your own.

Hope this helps.

Take care and good luck

The maximum new enlistment age is now 42 years of age. Raised up from 40, which was raised up from 35. Also being force to lower the physical requirements as well as medical standards.

there is actually an age limit. for a start you have to be 16. then whatever trade you would like to do have there own age limit aswell. i know this because when i joined at 16 i was only able to do a select number of trades. check out your local afco office, they should tell you everything you need to know. good luck!

17 with parental consent, or 18 otherwise. You have to be no older that 40 or 45 when you enlist.

There isn't one. You just have to either graduate from high school or obtain your GED. A friend of mine joined when he was 16. He had just graduated. His parents had to do a bunch of paperwork though!
