yep... cut it shorter than your chin.. cause that's what they're going to do.. the navy is the only branch that cuts females hair. Crazy!!! But they'll cut it up to your chin.. or shorter than that if you want to. But after you get done with boot.. you can grow it back out

28 years ago we were told no but be careful cause if it falls below your collar they will cut it off for you. I had hair to my hip bones when I joined and it took me long time to twist up and they caught a hair that fell out before an inspection and they cut it. I did 16 years after that I love the Navy and always will be thankful for all the things i was taught by observation and trial and error. I would highly recommend it to anyone

My Sister in law had short hair (between chin and shoulder length) when she went into the Navy and they still cut it when she got there. I'm not sure, but I think they just cut everyones hair no matter how long it is.. Her haircut wasnt that bad, because it looked good in her pictures.

In the marines they say your hair can be as long as you want but you have to have it always pulled back off your shoulders. They also make you take classes for this. I am sure the same is for the Navy. It is common for females to have long hair. I wouldn't worry too much your hair is already short.

If you are already having problems just with the idea of the hair cut you might want rethink your commitment. You can't get out of it as far as I know.

You want to have it cut before you go to basic or they will do it for you, and it is not pretty when they do it. Just make sure it is above the coller.
