He says it's not for him. The recruiters lied to him about going to college and about him "Not" having to go to Iraq. (I warned him) Now his reserve unit says "You have to go to Iraq" and he says he doesn't want to go. What now?

How far in reality would you go to teach school age children the horrors of war.Or must we sanitise it in the name of the PC brigade(Don,t traumatise children) to do that do we devalue the sacrifices made.I ask this because soon I will be involved in a war museum and we will be doing re enactments including the civillian parts of the war(Bomb shelter with sight, sound and smells).

I'm in the Canadian Navy, and we work closely with our southern counterparts. When I read those BS answers to questions like "Canada has an Army?!" I know it's not an American soldier, because they have seen us work and have a great deal of respect for us, like we do for them. Each country knows that the other is professional and highly trained, and a lot of dumb ignorant civvies don't get that. BTW, if you're a smart, informed civvie, forget my last, and thanks for the support on either side of the border.

It seems like a disproportionate number of movies, on TV this weekend, based on the USMC. Could it be an attempt, by the US government, to incite patriotism in the hearts of their young men and women, hoping to increase the number of new recruits?
Or perhaps they're just trying to make the inevitable, upcoming draft less disagreeable.

Why dont the adverts on the box tell the truth about joining up. The government portrays it as some kind of friendly club to attract young impressionable young men. the harsh reallity is far from this, losing limbs, crippling, loss of sight and worst off all loss of young peoples lives give them all the facts including the mental trauma. I know we must have deffence but not invasion forces. Who agrees or dissagrees.

Yet when they kill allied forces the same way, i.e. the 3 Brit soldiers this week - they don't pay a cent. Is this right and proper?

This week over a million Shiites are expected to converge on Karbala, from all over Islam, to celebrate the Hidden Imam. I'm no expert, but I don't believe that all of those people will have the best intentions in mind. So how can our military be expected to secure a country, that is in the middle of a religious war, and still allowing hundreds of thousands of foreigners to enter?
