Ok, the first thing you need to do is make sure that he and you are working off the same sheet of music. Contact everyday helps this, but that may not be possible if you go off to boot. When you complete your Basic and follow on schools, you WILL be able to be stationed together, if you are in the same service. You can probably even be under the same command. What id didn't understand about your question was what service you were in.

1. Go to the store and buy two cheap notebooks and two pencils.
2. Send him one notebook and one pencil.
3. Each of you set aside at least one hour and write your answers to the following two questions:
a. Why do I want to go on living?
b. Why do I want to go on living with you?
4. Mail your notebook to him and have him mail his notebook to you.
5. Discuss what the other person wrote in a phone call.
P.S.: If you or he can't do it, don't get married! This little exercise I suggested gets through all the clutter and nonsense about the dating life, etc.
