I'm in the Canadian Navy, and we work closely with our southern counterparts. When I read those BS answers to questions like "Canada has an Army?!" I know it's not an American soldier, because they have seen us work and have a great deal of respect for us, like we do for them. Each country knows that the other is professional and highly trained, and a lot of dumb ignorant civvies don't get that. BTW, if you're a smart, informed civvie, forget my last, and thanks for the support on either side of the border.

I don't know if you noticed, but a lot of American civies rip on the US military as well. The answer is, they don't know and dont really care. Most Americans really don't understand what is going on outside of their borders unless it pertains to Paris Hilton or something.

I have worked with you guys in a couple of schools and currently working with some of in Europe now. I have been impressed so far. More impressed then I have with other militaries I have worked with.

personally I respect and love anyone who is involved in the military, no matter where they may come from but, I do get upset when I hear and or see everyone talk about the US military like they are gods or something! I mean sure they should be respected just like everyone else. to me everyone is equal and it pisses me off when I see or hear others criticize the Canadian military and try comparing it to others! Besides we encountered many loses during world war one and world war two. Many people claim that the American army was the one that won the war! THIS TICS ME OFF BIG TIME! we all fought bravely in both world wars but it just so happens that the US military joined the LAST few years when the war was almost OVER then they claimed or you can say took the credit for "winning the war" but in reality we all fought and yes they did help and who knows there could have been way more casualties or a chance of not succeeding if it weren t for the US military s help, but we all are proud of our country s yall ain t gotta be taking credit of something that we achieved together! I don t know its just my opinion...

It's American knuckle-draggers, who, while reading comic books in history class, had never learned that the Canadian navy played a huge role in defeating Nazi U-boats in World War II, enduring heavy losses and the most miserable duty on earth. Also the Canadian army suffered horrible losses in the Dieppe raid and were right there on the beach at D-Day.

I have to agree with one of the posters above me. Americans rip on their own military more than any other.

I have never personally worked with Canadian forces, however I have heard that they are on par with forces from the UK and Australia which are highly trained and very professional.

Actually the criticism goes both ways.

Ive worked with Canadians both during my active enlistment and in the civilian world. I like you Kanucks. I also enjoy a friendly rivalry that gives cheap shots once in a while intended on a friendly level.

(Note: Jury is still out on French-Canadians.)

I don't know much about the Canadian military except that they are small. Hey they are pulling their weight for their size. Some larger countries that have a military our size wont help out. Kudos to Canada.

A lot of American (funny how we think Americans only mean USA citizens) civilians are self absorbed and self styled experts on a variety of subjects, just ask them. It is part of the reason why so many people on this planet dislike or outright hate US citizens.
