My hubby and I are dual military, I'm an E-5 Sergeant and he's an E-6 Staff Sergeant, both active duty army and we love it! Anyway, have y'all ever thought about following in your hubby or wifey's footsteps? Why or why not?

*Before anyone gets offended, I'm not trying to say anything, it's just a question cuz I'm bored on night shift. That and don't you think it would help understand your spouse better. We have 2 kids by the way, we're both deployed, and we both are taking college classes, so it IS possible to do it all.

Will Iran take over Iraq, does it go into Civil War. Are private contractors more effective than the US Army.

How will it all get started? No matter how much Bush and Cheney want it, the U.S. Senate is unlikely to authorize the bombing of Iranian installations out of the blue. Unless there is some major disturbance in Iraq that can be blamed on Iran, Israel is likely to pull the trigger. It knows how to and has every motivation to do so. Once Israel drops the first bomb on an Iranian nuclear facility, as it did with Iraq's Osirak reactor in 1981, there is no return. Bushehr is likely to be the first target; other installations will follow. Iran will respond – how can it not? At a minimum, it will shoot missiles at Israel. It may or may not shoot at U.S. forces in Iraq initially, but given the U.S.-Israel "special relationship," there is no way the U.S. will stay out of the conflict. Many of Iran's targeted facilities are underground, and U.S. bombs will be needed to destroy them all. Once the U.S. enters the conflict, 150,000 U.S. troops in Iraq will be at risk of Iranian missiles

I'm considering my financial options for college and, wanting to keep my options open, feel obligated to at least examine what ROTC has to offer. What I want to know is what business majors, business being the career path I plan on following post-service, does ROTC offer. I must also admit that I don't fancy the idea of being shot at constantly so if you have any advice on what career to pursue that would be relatively safe, when compared to other military occupations, that would be helpful as well

Whats the policy today on tattoos in the navy? I have a couple on my forearm and he biggest one probably takes up half my arm. I live in San Diego California and wondered if they would turn me away. It seems like the only branch that would take me is the army and the army national guard, I am not big on joining them because they are more ground combat. Could there be a chance they would take me? Does it sometimes depend on the recruiter? Is there anyone who has gone to a recruiter lately and gotten turned down due to tattoos? None of them are racial or negative like they say in there policy. I have just heard different things. That sometimes they will take you if you can tell them the meaning of them and they arent negative in anyway. Please help.

Can I reenlist for about 30 months?

I am in the Navy looking to extend for orders. I would like to enlist for an SRB but I still have some time on the books. The orders that I am going for require me to OBLISERVE to October of 2010. My command told me that I could only reenlist for one year increments starting from my EAOS which is July of 2008. So, according to them I would have to reenlist to July of 2011. Not that I have a problem with that other than there is this dangerous PRD starting in Feb of 2010 and then an EAOS of July 2011. Thats a lot of time to be sent somewhere "unexpected."

I have an uncharacterized discharge from the US Army for other designated mental/physical conditions. What does this mean to an employer? Should I ever say I was in the military? It is not dishonorable, I didnt get in trouble, I didnt go AWOL.

The Soldier’s family prayer

The never ending days and nights
We sit and cry while they stand and fight
The lonely letters, a phone call now and then
They tell us they’ll be home we just don’t know when

They represent all that is good in this land
While they fight for freedom in the hot, dry sand
They give too much, sometimes they give all
Because sometimes even heroes can fall.

So far away with their homes on their mind
And the loving families that they left behind
Fighting a war that never seems to end
With innocent people and a country to defend

We should all be grateful that they are there
So we can live our lives without a care
So thanks to the families of the soldiers who fight
And thanks to the soldiers for doing what’s right.

May god keep each and every one of you near
And take care of the ones that you hold so dear
No matter how far your loved ones may roam
I pray for each one a safe return home.

I am looking for information on a picture I saw in a book over 35 years ago, I don't remember the book title , all I remember is that there was a picture, possible of a painting, of a young Royal navy cadet, apprentice, mascot, etc. The "lad" was a young teen I believe, and he went down with a ship, manning a gun to the last, I believe it was a smaller ship, maybe a corvette or gun boat of some type. Very dramatic painting and story, but I cannot for the life of me remember anymore, only that it was possible between the the mid 1800s and WWI, after his death, He was awarded some major service medal or given some other award in recognition of his sacrifice. can anyone give me a possible lead on this person? I'm an American, I know longer live anywhere near where I grew up and read that book from a library . and my resources on Royal naval history are pretty far and few and in between, where I reside now. appreciate any info on this you can share.

But when they sign for the 17 year old to go into the Marines and he doesn't go why is it the Parents don't have to serve in the Marines. After all they signed for him to go in the Marines. So if he can't finish his 4 years shouldn't the parents be made to finish his four years? They would have to pay the bank loan if he didn't pay.
