And if so, what do you think it will be like? Who will be involved? What will it be fought over? Who will win?

Unfortunately, WWIII will be global suicide, therefore in answer to your question, as long as there's rational superpowers who believe in MAD, there will be no WW3. By definition, the next world war wil be nuclear, how could it not. In a nuclear war there will be no winner. In a nuclear world, the only true enemy is war itself.

The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not if both sides believe no price for victory will be too high. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask what country would be victorious, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.

While we hear talk of a nuclear-Iran or a confrontation with NorKor, little is said about the 2 bulls in the glass shop. The arsenals of Russia and the US are enough to destroy a million Hiroshimas. But there are fewer than 3000 cities on the Earth with populations of 100,000 or more. You cannot find anything like a million Hiroshimas to obliterate. Prime military and industrial targets that are far from cities are comparatively rare. Our biggest threat is from an accidental launch by the Russians.

At the point of global suicide, it doesn't matter who is on what side.... In a nuclear age like i said before, the only true enemy is war itself.

Not in the way you think it might happen. There might not be any conventional warfare( No World War Two like battles) Why? 1st World states want to avoid nuclear conflict so they attack 2nd and 3rd world nations. Much easier.

Usually in World Wars factors and things up to 10 years before the war build up the eruption of conflict. In the Post Cold War world today I see such things.

None could never be sure who will fight such a war.

Usually economics reasons might be the reason. Also moral reasons as well.. though one should never fight wars over moral reasons or religious reasons but if you want to go ahead as long as you have enough jets.

Who will win? The one with the most production power, most population, most force projection etc

These people are idiots >_> the world is changing. More and more of us are defiant against our governments going into war. U.S citizens don't really like the war we're in now. Europe will never be controlled by muslims. China does love it's people, and so does any other Government out there. If you mean love as a reason to be alive, then yes, they are dispensable, but the people, every people around the world, will say no. The only threat right now would be the Middle East and it's extremist Muslims. Muslims in general are great people but the extremist...off with their heads. North Korea? They barely have a standing army to begin a war.

No there will not be a Global conflict ever again. The establishment of the U.N does indeed control outbreaks of war. It's main purpose foremost is to always keep the countries in check, communicate with one another, and to always make alliances with one another. for now only a handful are not in the U.N, and those countries can't stand up against the growing power of the U.N.

You guys are idiots >_>

by the way, unlike the other treaties and alliances, the U.N is the only group that isn't scared to use deadly force to anyone or anything that stands up against the world

No matter how much we try to preserve the nature and make a better living for the future generations its probable that this eon will come to and with man made weapons. Our destruction and doom is well made by us only. There could be a 3rd world war if the power hungry countries do not act on their limits.

The final conflict may well be between the Chinese and Russians. China is the biggest threat to the world because they have the population to spare in waging war and the government is not concerned about the people. The western cultures are sliding down the path of destruction. As Muslims gain control of Europe and the Far east the western culture totters on implosion because of corruption.

This may not answer your question but this quote from Al Bert Einstein seems fitting, he said " I don't know how the 3rd world war will be fought but I know the 4th world war will be fought with sticks and stones".

To the people saying we're in it now: Yeah we're in a bit of a sticky mess right now, but to qualify to be a world war I believe the world needs to be involved.

If you are speaking US as "our facet" I could expect Great Britain and MAYBE Canada or Australia. The leisure could be towards us or fall. The French and Italians could turn flop a couple of instances like they did earlier than. Especially the give up monkeys French.
