NAVY has some cool insignias and so do AirForce. How long has it been scince they have changed? Does anyone think they should be more intricate looking?

It seems that Americans believe that THEY single-handedly won WW2!

My belief is that it was a joint effort and that the USA quickened the win!

Does the US version paint Great Britain as a plucky and resourceful holdout against Hitler, on the verge of falling? Russia portrayed as a bunch of hobos with flintlock rifles who got lucky because the Nazis didn’t have warm coats? The French presented as beret-wearing cheese-eaters taking German lessons?

Is it just a question of "National one-upmanship" with every Country believing that without their effort Hitler would have won?

I'm not anti-US, it's just I think that a more balanced view point of where the US has contributed in historical events should be taught!

National pride is a great thing, but don't believe every thing that you are taught!

I was seperated from the USCG about 5 month ago for personal reasons.I had alot of issues going on back home,my father had a stroke,my mother was very depressed,in need of money etc.I fixed alot of things back home.My father is doing much better and we are back on our feet.I love the military. Its my passion and I love serving this country every single day.I do want to start back in the beggining and work my way back up.I feel that I am the same as everyone else and I am no better.I want to do another branch rather than the CG because ill be a recruit again. Before,I went to the USCG,I was really close to enlist with the Air Force.I did everything with them except the swaer in.I want to know because I was just seperated from the Uscg, would I get an opprotunity to goto the Air Force or would I have to go to the USCG or another branch. Can anyone help.

SUNAPEE, N.H. - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Thursday the United States cannot use its military to solve humanitarian problems and that preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn't a good enough reason to keep U.S. forces there. Right or wrong?

I was talking to both of my grandfathers; the one that was a Vietnam combat veteran and draftee, and the other one who was a "hippie" war protestor(how their children got together to marry is a miracle lol lol). Anyway it seems from my discussions with them that during the Vietnam War soldiers came from the school dropouts and those who were unable to find employment. My grandfather who was drafted could not maintain himself in college because of an inability to concentrate and other emotional issues that plagued him. The soldiers today are different. They are the "cream of America's youth". They go to school, respect their parents, follow rules. They are not the dropouts who get in trouble, loiter, and make babies they can't and won't support. As a result the veterans of Vietnam were the throw aways of that era and the youth who serve today are those who will be our leaders in the future. One of them dying or seriously injured is much more traumatic to their communities.

i have a friend who is now 33, but when he was 16 was put in the hospital for a few day for mental issues he had with life.since then he has been in great mental health. he had tried to enlist in the national guard a few years back in the state he lives in (CT). the recruiter had told him because of this issues when he was a minor he is not able to enlist and it will be permintly attached to his social security number if he ever tries to enlist in other branches or in other states.he will be moving to Oklahoma in less then a week. i wanted to know how much of this is true. and in fact if it is true, is every state different. if you ask me its a load of crap when you have someone willing to give of themselves and be ready when called to service should our communities or our nation ever need him.i think if this happened when he was under the age of 17 it should be kept personal and no one but a family doctor should have access to (other then a judge). thanks for your help, E

I just read a previous question that was under a different area. I am HOPING it was because it was under womens studies that it had all the answers it had, but I thought maybe I would give it a shot here! I am SHOCKED!

Should women have to register to be drafted?

I would say NO! I think they should have the CHOICE. They have children. I have 3 babies and I can not imagine having to go shoot a gun which I have never done before, nor do I have any desire too ! I am not against guns (I am a proud republican!) but I just couldnt do it!

People who claim women are not weaker... YES WE ARE. Women are emotional thinkers. Things go through our thought process much differently then a mans. Men are rational thinkers (for the most part) and just think to get the job done. We are naturally weaker physically. I am sure SOME women are stronger then SOME men, but generally, I am NOT going to win a arm wrestling match with any man !

I dont get this. Please people, help my faith in mankind!

hear the TOTAL number of terrorists that have been killed in Iraq over the last 6 years?

I know it's probably a lib media plot to maybe only give out the number of US troops lost but why has Bush never, ever, given the exact total number of terrorists killed in Iraq? Don't you think it would be very helpful to know how many terrorists US troops in Iraq have killed?

Or might it be because Bush/US military have no idea how many they've terrorists they've killed? And how the heck can you win a war when you have no idea how many terrorists you killed?

There is a push by the left in congress to pull out of Iraq before we have finished the job. Do you believe that would just encourage our enemy to attack us at home?

This has been on my mind for some time...

So let's say the U.S. were to have another civil war:

1. Battlefield: USA
2. Time Frame: Today
3. Teams: like i said Navy Marines vs. Army & Air Force

(to answer please put aside all feelings, for example: do not post Semper Fi! just because you were an ex-marine and then dont give me an explanation...haha. You gotta use your knowledge about the military, and opinions of course..)

An IRAQ LIFE

You stay up for 16 hours

He stays up for days on end.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.

He goes days or weeks without running water.

You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.

He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.

He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.

He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.

He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.

He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it is.

He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

The U.S. spends half a Trillion dollars on the military every year and they can't win a simple war in Iraq or can't even find Bin Laden.

Their enemies are fighting and winning with equipment that is 40 years old while the U.S. soldiers have the latest weapons, technology and gear and they still can't win.

The U.S. military is a complete waste of half a Trillion dollars a year.
