I was seperated from the USCG about 5 month ago for personal reasons.I had alot of issues going on back home,my father had a stroke,my mother was very depressed,in need of money etc.I fixed alot of things back home.My father is doing much better and we are back on our feet.I love the military. Its my passion and I love serving this country every single day.I do want to start back in the beggining and work my way back up.I feel that I am the same as everyone else and I am no better.I want to do another branch rather than the CG because ill be a recruit again. Before,I went to the USCG,I was really close to enlist with the Air Force.I did everything with them except the swaer in.I want to know because I was just seperated from the Uscg, would I get an opprotunity to goto the Air Force or would I have to go to the USCG or another branch. Can anyone help.
Thanks

SO long as you had a favorable reenlistment code and still meet the enlistment criteria (health, criminal record, drug screening, physical condition, ect.) you should have no problems enlisting. You will probably retain your rank if you were under E-5 or you may be downgraded one level. You may encounter problems getting the military job specification you desire since you are prior service particularly if you go into a non-maritime service such as the Air Force and you may not qualify for many enlistment incentives such as an enlistment bonus or proffered posting. If you re-enter the Coast Guard you should keep your full rank and not be required to repeat basic but most of the other services will make you redo basic. I am not sure about the Navy. I would suggest going back to the USCG because you will probably have lost nothing in less then 6 months and you probably won't take a downgrade but I doubt if you will have a problem with any service.

We answered this question days ago. Go read our answers to that question. NO on the AF though, no prior service, probably no on the Navy too. Your best bet is going to be the Army. Not quite the same thing as the CG.

the Air Force is NOT taking Prior service personnel at this time. Your best option Is Army.

Take your DD Form 214 (the long version, with your discharge code) to an AF recruiter to see if you're eligible to enlist.
