Why does it take a tradegy like 9/11 and our soldiers/sailors/airmen/marines to be deployed for some americans to realize they need to support our military? Before 9/11 we would go shopping on pay day and you would hear oh god its military pay day and we would be treated like crap, but since then its oh your military we love you...or how I could drive down a street and see not 1 car with a support sticker, magnet ect. before 9/11 the only ones with any hint of support were military or prior however after 9/11 everyone thought slapping a magnet on your car meant you cared. Dont people realize that my husband and all the other military personnel are working 24 hrs a day 7 days a week 365 days a year, not just when a tradegy happens....

The new F-35B is STOVL (Short Take Off and Landing) capable, I cant see that ever being used, and it will not take very long before its discontinued. With large numbers of bases around the world, STOVL and VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) will not be useful in the future. I dont think that this technology has any real use in the AF. When you need an air base with a landing strip long enough for C-130's and larger air craft to re-supply them with munitions and other stuff used in the complex maintenence of these air craft.

I just finnished processing at a MEPS center and I'm set to be a machine gunner in the Marine Reserves (shipping in May of next year). I asked the MOS guy if I could be MCSF and he said I had to be active duty for that. He also said I could volunteer for it, so I'm a little confused... Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks.

Ideally I'd like to be able to trace this soldier - but any information you might be able to give in relation to whether he was a British Soldier / American / Canadian....etc and what type of soldier /regiment / army / navy / airforce...etc he might have been in.

I've uploaded a picture - link is below. Please let me know if you can't access.

(apologies, but the photo is at least 60 years old)
thanks.

Bush admitted that Iraq had no WMD's and that it was not connected with 9/11. He also mentioned a "Freedom Agenda for Middle East" whatever that was or is. Before someone calls me a Liberal, I am neutral and ask this question because our troops were deployed to topple a stable/secular regime in a pretty unstable region, Why?

I was told WMD's and terrorists (something I couldn't swallow).

I have another friend with a considerable amount of money. I am still trying to pay off my student loans from college. He offered an undetermined amount of cash(As in he told me but I am not telling you), to to cause some type of ruckus at the North Korea / South Korea DMZ during the tour we will be taking next month. I have done research on this after he asked me because I have little knowledge about the two Korea's, besides the war. I see hostility is strong and it seems the wrong move could cause a MAJOR INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT up to including a WAR! I brought this up to my dad's friend, who was in the Korean war. He told me that if I did that, North Korea would shoot first and ask questions later. And obviously, if the North fired into the South, the South would return fire and well, the US Military would get involved. According to him, a firefight escalating into an all out heavy gun battle including tanks and stuff you would see on GTA 3 would result.

we withdrew all of our troops, whether its from europe, germany, kuwait, iraq, afghanistan, japan, south korea, etc.......we have them all come back to home, we stop all aid to all 3rd world and poor countries and totally become isolated to ourselves.

instead, use all the billions on health care, education, welfare, poverty, etc.

wouldnt that be so much better?

do you agree or disagree?

I have an early M1 carbine made by Universal, I know it's a copy of a GI M1 and has no collectable value, but is it good for just shooting for fun? I'm looking for the more technical answer.

Why do women get credit for "fighting and dying for our country". There have been like 3 women killed all together in the entire Iraq war and those were probably from indirect fire off the frontlines.

Women are limited to non-combat duties and that in my opinion doesn't qualify as "fighting for our country".

Lets face it, war is a mans job. Why do women get equal credit?????

i'm sorry, i know that most of the military are good people, but it makes me sick when i see pictures of gitmo, abu, the rape of an iraqi girl, i don't think that i could ever forgive the us military for that........
plus i really hate the discrimination of gays/lesbians. i believe we are the only armed forces to ban gays/lesbians to serve in the military.
