I already served, big mistake, for 5 years. No I wouldn't but since we are hypothetically speaking, I'd smoke a big fat blunt and snort a line of coke before I went , so they wouldn't want me. If that didn't work I'd say that I was gay or Jehovah's witness or something. It's not about being scared, I'm a vet, been there done that, it's about being smart. However if it were a more valid war like WWII then yes I would.

I already serve (16 years).
A draft would be an unmitigated disaster for the military. Discipline would be the first thing to go. Next would be the quality of training provided since the training schools would essentially become meat factories. You can't force people to be dedicated. Volunteers are dedicated because they want to be there. Draftees can be, but usually aren't because people don't like to be forced into things.

Of course, but since I'd have a degree 4 years, I'd get to become an Officer and attend forced OCS. Not a bad deal really. I've always wanted to lead a Rifle Platoon.

No. I don't think so. I think 34 years of military service, three meritorious service medals and two purple hearts are enough. I would encourage those who have not served to do so, though. Of course, liberal democrats are too cowardly to ever put themselves in harm's way for their country, so I guess it's up to us conservative republicans (as usual) to save their free speech for them

YES! I wanted to enlist when my husband did three years ago but they wouldn't let me because we have a child. I've always wanted to join the military but now I serve my country by supporting my husband!

Yes, I would serve, but I'd be exempt. I've served my country in both the Peace Corps and Americorps.

I already served -- 28 years. Then the Army said I was too old to continue, and retired me. And I'd do it all over again, too.

If they were proud and ready, we would not need a draft.
