Why does it take a tradegy like 9/11 and our soldiers/sailors/airmen/marines to be deployed for some americans to realize they need to support our military? Before 9/11 we would go shopping on pay day and you would hear oh god its military pay day and we would be treated like crap, but since then its oh your military we love you...or how I could drive down a street and see not 1 car with a support sticker, magnet ect. before 9/11 the only ones with any hint of support were military or prior however after 9/11 everyone thought slapping a magnet on your car meant you cared. Dont people realize that my husband and all the other military personnel are working 24 hrs a day 7 days a week 365 days a year, not just when a tradegy happens....

No. these short sighted lemmings in the US are even afraid to show their support towards the troops or the war effort, thinking that Harry (the traitor) Reid or Nancy Pelosi, Charles Schumer, or John Murtha, might disapprove !
I find it repugnant that people like this can take a page out of the Vietnam playbook, for political purposes. I can tell you, without hesitation, if these democrats get their way, life in the US will not be the same as it was in the post Vietnam era These ugly, devil worshiping ragheads will continue their aggression right on our own soil, just as they did on 9/11, and any damned fool who believes other wise, well, I've got a bridge I'd like to sell !
Take note on how many magnets you see on cars today. People are afraid to let their feelings be known. They believe it is unfashionable to show their patriotism. they believe they look like hawks, if they support the troops. These are the people we need to put on the front lines when the ragheads start chipping away at us, again !

I guess it also depends where you live. Small town America always supports and shows pride in the Military. Back in 94-95 I went to visit family north of Denver close to Wyoming and I was in uniform and everywhere i stopped I got free meals, hugs, handshakes, and enough beer for this sailor to handle hehe, I got discounts on things i bought and was like a celeb near bases the locals treat Military and are proud of us like the mom and pop shops that do business with us but in big cities and most others they dont care I was bumped from a flight in AZ and when i told them i was on leave they were like oh sorry but we are overbooked. Its easy for people to slap a sticker on their car and say they support the troops but what else have they done. Thank you and your husband for your service. The hardest job is being a Military wife. I have to agree with you ma'am. The military has always been taken for granted until a time of need arises. Only those that are serving or have served would know.I'm not trying to bash or blame anyone here, but when there is nothing happening in the world with our military, it just doesn't make the headlines. My son is in the army right now and until he joined, I must say I am as guilty as the next person. My very best to your husband and your family as well as all service men and women and their families. Thank you all for what you are doing.

I know... its rediculous. And the funny thing is that there are still a BUNCH of people that dont support the troops... they are so RETARTED. I cant believe when people bad talk the military like it is thier fault that we are at war. They dont realize that the soldiers are the ones trying to make it all better. Whatever. All we can do as Army wives is support, and try to spread the support.

It doesn't, always.
I have always taught my students who true heroes are: the one's that risk their lives for us: firemen, police officers, military men and women. NOT teachers, pop stars, and sports figures (who may be role-models, but are NOT heroes).
I have always gone out of my way, whenever I see a present or past police officer, fireman/woman, or military man/woman to shake their hands and thank them, introducing my wife and daughter and making clear (though she can barely speak) that this is one of my heroes.
I do so out-loud. Publicly. Respectfully.
Finally, my wife and I agreed. We have a baby daughter. We would be SO PROUD to have her join the military (if she chooses to do so).
You also have our thanks, the mothers, fathers, siblings, especially the wives/husbands and children of our military men and women. I am not just grateful you are asking this, I join you.
Keep speaking up.
I am a democrat, second, a patriot, first.
P.S., if you really want to support them, go to the nearest recruiting center, ask THEM what you should send. We sent a crate load of model airplanes, and lots of books. Cookies are nice, but isn't it better to send something they would LIKE?

Kipling said it best a hundred years ago...something like "its Tommy this and Tommy that" and I forget the rest.....also there is one that goes like" Soldiers and dogs stay out"...nobody likes the cops and GI's until they need them..then they cry for them....people never learn
