Before someone calls me a Liberal, I am neutral and ask this question because our troops were deployed to topple a stable/secular regime in a pretty unstable region, Why?

Anyone who thinks invading Baghdad was because of oil is just showing their ignorance and willingness to simply regurgitate what others say due to a lack of their own research and education. Just look at where the US gets its oil and the oil prices today and even a paint chip eating, helmet wearing, short bus riding, drooling challenged person would see that the oil argument is just stupid.

Saddam's own generals thought he had WMD or was close to it. Do we wait until a US city is smoldering or do we wait until 1000s of people were killed chemically? Also Saddam was openly and daily going against the treaty he signed and because the UN was/is so corrupt would not be called on it. That is how even though there was only Oil for Food he managed to rebuild his entire military even though we obliterated it in 100 hours.

The personal vendetta idea is also ludicrous and idiotic and assumes that the government and the military are just a bunch of mindless automatons. That is ridicules, unless you are also that way because we come from the same place you do and not some other planet. Talk with the Kurds and the Shiites who were oppressed, tortured, murdered for the past several decades... have women walk up to you with pictures of brothers, husbands, sons, etc. and ask you where they are that they were dragged out of their homes after they spoke out against the government and tell them.... sucks to be you... we should have never come here.... You can do this not only by joining the military but working for the hundreds of companies world wide that are there aiding in reconstruction instead of sitting in their Starbucks or student unions complaining about things but doing absolutely nothing constructive.

Very few living here in the U.S. can realize what anyone of those people went through or are going through. So before you just spit out rhetoric and the party line do some of your own research. Look at sources that don't agree with your view as much as ones that do because chances are the truth is somewhere in between.

In a free society people are just as free to kill as they are to live happy. This is a new way of living for them and will take time to get used to.

I believe we are planning an attack against IRAN, and if we station troops out in IRAQ, once we unleash the attach on IRAN, we can fight the battle on their soil, not the US's.
