No....that's propaganda from the large Cuban population living in Florida and the elected officials in Florida who represent them and are afraid of losing there votes.

Hard line anti-communists still push the notion that Cuba is 90 miles away so it will always be a threat with or without Castro. Which is nonsense when you consider the number of countries who are not friendly to the US that have long range nuclear weapons.

Cuba hasn't been a threat to the US since the Russians pulled out of Cuba many years ago.

What threat? When he took over in the late '50s he was a threat purely for ideologic reasons. He never has had much of an air force or navy and his army is small, poor and untrained. He or Cuba is no threat to the U.S.

The primary reasons castro was deemed an enemy when he took over in Cuba were his support from the USSR and the fact that he took billions of $ worth of business and facilities from U.S. businessmen.

The U.S. wanted it's money back and they were afraid of the domino effect....first Cuba, then Panama, Guatamala, etc. Just like Viet Nam where we feared first Viet Nam would go communist then Laos, Cambodia....

Sound familiar? The militant muslims fear the U.S. will take over the middle east (and its oil) in a domino effect. First Iraq, then Iran, Syria, Jordan,.......

I think a drunk Russian officer in a nuclear submarine off the shores of the US is much more dangerous that the island of poverty called Cuba.

Cube ceased being a threat when the old USSR collapsed. Now, it's just strong-headedness. There is no reason for this isolation.
