I have another friend with a considerable amount of money. I am still trying to pay off my student loans from college. He offered an undetermined amount of cash(As in he told me but I am not telling you), to to cause some type of ruckus at the North Korea / South Korea DMZ during the tour we will be taking next month. I have done research on this after he asked me because I have little knowledge about the two Korea's, besides the war. I see hostility is strong and it seems the wrong move could cause a MAJOR INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT up to including a WAR! I brought this up to my dad's friend, who was in the Korean war. He told me that if I did that, North Korea would shoot first and ask questions later. And obviously, if the North fired into the South, the South would return fire and well, the US Military would get involved. According to him, a firefight escalating into an all out heavy gun battle including tanks and stuff you would see on GTA 3 would result.

My friend told me, just throw some rocks at the soldiers to the North> He just brought up yesterday that though you are not allowed to bring a gun to South Korea, you could bring a black, wooden replica. He said he would provide me with the weapon look-a-like and pay me more if I did.
Now, I do not know if this is treason but I am sure the charge for starting a MAJOR international incident is nothing to sneeze at and well, I don't think its worth it. My dad told me because I was considering it, he wants power of attorney over all my stuff before I leave. So I mean, i think this is a really bad idea but I mean, he seems he wants to pay me all this money for one big joke that well, could just maybe, by chance cause a nuclear war. So, I mean, i do not want to do it but everyone has their price. What do I do? What would you do? Please do not ask how much. he's just a young college kid like me trying to get a rise and use his money. He's not some espionage person.

RE: Not getting close enough
Doing my research, it seems at the DMV, during the tour, you get to be right at the border. The place with the blue buildings and grey buildings. At the line, both soldiers stand. On the North side, there are also soldiers in the so-called "Welcome Center" building. So I mean, i think this is pretty close to cause a problem and my friend and father agree. I could stand on the line and throw a rock at one of the soldiers and/or take out that wooden gun and point it. But like i said, I very much do not like this idea nor do I want to do it.

To undertake such an act merely proves you have the mental agility of a rabbit dropping. Why would you find it amusing to incite an international incident? If you need money, you only need to steal the large DPRK flag you will see a mere two miles north of the DMZ.
The ROK government, when I was there in '83, was willing to pay $2million. I am sure you and your friend are up to that challenge. Go cause an incident by taking the flag. Go on, it will be easy for guys like you who have all the angles worked out and who could care less about the others who will suffer around you for your callous act. Say hello to Miss Kim for me and let me know how you did. Thanks.

There's no possibility of North Korea ever attacking South Korea, period. That's because the 1950-1953 Korean War isn't actually over. It stopped with a ceasefire agreement but never properly ended with a peace treaty. If North Korea breaks the ceasefire, it'll be right back at war again with the United Nations and all the UN countries that kicked North Korea's @ss and liberated South Korea from North Korea's attempt to conquer the South back in the 50s. That's a war North Korea already lost once and knows it can't win.

That is a very, very horrible idea. Just think: if you do go over there and throw some rocks at the North Korean soldiers, and if World War Three starts, people in the future will shake their heads in disbelief that the Third World War started because a college graduate who should have known better needed some cash. So if you need more money, at least find a way to earn it that doesn't involve putting the entire world at risk of another world war. We've already had two world wars. Try to avoid starting a third.

First off, I have to say that you're an utter friggin' moron.
Having said that, you won't be able to get close enough to the DMZ to cause a "ruckus".
Remember, in the mid 90's, one of our Army helicopters strayed offcourse in the DMZ and was shot down by North Korea, killing the copilot.
Even with that, we didn't even go on alert.

"it seems the wrong move could cause a MAJOR INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT up to including a WAR!"
Ya think?
If you want to end up shot dead or in prison for life, go for it.
You want to know what's really scary about this? That you're even considering it. That you actually came here to ask the question instead of telling your "friend" to shove it right then and there. Better yet, you should turn his *** in to the FBI before he asks someone else to do it.

Chances are you're a troll. But just in case, here's an answer to your question.
I think you should do it. Despite your unjustifiably bloated opinion of your own importance, you aren't going to cause any major incident. The best part is, there's a good chance that playing this kind of game will take you out of the gene pool and thereby raise the average intelligence of humanity.

well apart from the North Koreans shooting you the South Koreans will probably kick seven shades of shite out of you if you try to do anything so stupid.
If and when you survive that a few years in a Korean prison will see you sorted out.

Do you want to go to jail? Do you want to be shot? I've been to the DMZ twice, and I can tell you that you are just begging to get into major trouble if you do something. Don't go if you don't plan to take it seriously and be respectful of this very tense place.

Really really bad idea, NKs are good shots, and provoking them is a bad idea. My buddies did not get killed so you could be a troublemaker. The South Koreans would also be mad.
