Hello,
I plan on going into the Navy or the Airforce as a Crytologic Linguist of some sort... I'm not sure whether I should go for the Air Force or the Navy, are there any major differences between the two as far as a Linguistics position goes? Any Advice

If you are in a linguistics position in the Navy or Air Force or if you know someone who is I would LOVE to hear from you! U could e-mail me at treehugger_17@yahoo.com (or just answer if u'd prefer...)

Otherwise I'd appreciate any advice/info and/or comments/opinions...

Thanks so much for taking the time to read/write my Q/A. : )

It is really touching and I am blessed that we have the military and the armed forces. Thank you for what you are doing and god bless you all!!

My boyfriend and I are kind of on a break now because he said he's having a really hard time coping with all of this Iraq stuff ( a few of his close friends were recently killed). He told me he just needed time to think and that he'd call me when he was ready to talk. I promised id be here for him and I still send him emails and care packages to let him know im thinking about him. I'm having such a hard time understanding why he wants time away from me, though. I just want to be there for him and I feel like he's pushing me away. Should I keep waiting for him or do you think its something beyond him just having a hard time coping? I love him to death and just want him to be happy. Any advice would be great thanks!

I care very much about my finances and my future....as well as my sisters. I want to help her or let her know of ways that should could get a gov. job and business or a place she could get good work experience to build on her resume and work ethic now. Before she graduates in couple years. I know being in the Army has benefits for you family...though I'm not completely familiar with what that is. Also what can the Army assist my family with (mom, dad, sister) direct family? How about indirect family? Uncle- was VERY sick at the point of not being able to walk or eat. He's progressed and getting better...however theres the med bills. Can the mil help with that? Back to my sister she is very smart, very outgoing. My dad didnt have much of an edu and pushes her to take whatever job she can and make some money:( I want her to think about her future in the big world....I havent really discussed this with her I wanted to find out more about gov jobs and military assistance.

Start as a normal soldier, then become a navy seal or join a force or something....!

I'm 5.8'' tall. and i weight 165 lbs.
I can do around 80 push ups(normally).
I practiced martial arts for a few years(so I've had some training).

I know it's a long and hard road, but i can manage.
Do i have the physical qualifications??

Hi,
I'm 17 and am thinking of joining the military after I graduate (next year), but am not sure which branch..

I want to go into linguistics.. such as a CTI etc. I haven't taken the DLAB yet, but assume that I pass. All the branches offer positions in linguistics so I'm not sure which branch I should join. Here is my cons/pros for each branch..

MarineCorps - might be too radical, seems more
brawny than brainy, too tough/exciting, meaningful, prestigious, and adventurous, travel?

AirForce - Seems whimpy, heard they wont guarantee
a job prior to joining (you must pick like four?)/Brains over
Brawn, travel?

Navy - Travel? dont know much about the navy compared to the other branches..

Army - brawn over brains/travel? meaningful don't know much about this branch either.

I would greatly apreciate additions/details to my pros/cons list, personal experiences, opinions, comments, and just about any information... especially concerning linguistics

thanks : )

What did enlisted recruits have to go through during boot camp at these times in history? Was it shorter because of the war? What did it consist of?

I want to be a pilot in the Navy and am currently going through the application process. In some of my research I have read they assign you your career path at the end of OCS. Does this mean that even though I'm accepted as Pilot I could end up doing something else? I understand that this may be the case due to physical restraints and what not but I am confident I can pass those. I am just worried that I go through OCS and at the end they tell me they don't need pilots.
