Yes you can, however, regardless of which branch of the military you chose to join, they are going to require you to have a Family Care Plan. A Family Care Plan is a plan that is made for the care of your children while you are away either for training, school, or deployments. It would not be just a day care type situation, you would have to have a plan in place for long term separations. The person or persons that you elect to be the guardian(s) of your children should be made aware that they may be caring for your children during long deployments. Most military members elect members of their family to serve as guardians, but you are allowed to pick whom ever you like.

Good luck to you and thank you for wanting to serve our country.

NO. Only certain Reserve Branches will consider single parents.

you may not go active duty as a single parent. You may NOT give up custody for the sole purpose of enlisting, and you may NOT regain custody at all durinmg the first term of enlistment..anywhere from 4-6 years.

Yeah, and they'll handle housing, and give you food stipends. It's a really good gig if you can find someone to watch the little ruggers while you're at Basic. Private Mother of 3, SALUTE!

If you have 4 years college, or 90 Credits you can become an Officer(2nd Lieutenant) and start off making nearly $40k a year, with full benefits, housing, food and medical. It's really great

Actually I spoke with a recrutier earlier today and I am not married soon to be though. But he said that I would have to be married or you have to give temporary custody to someone before you can enlist. So no you have to either be married or give up temporary custody first.

Yes, but you need to have an iron-clad Care Plan in place before going in.

Yes they can, and with any luck in our now politically correct military they can get right into the heat of the battle and get killed. See Piestewa, Lori.
