The only thing I ever heard regarding something like this was, if you win like a Megabucks Lottery for millions, they outprocess you immediately.
The reasoning was, how do you discipline a millionaire PFC? You can Article 15 him all day long, it's not going to bother him or her at all.
But this is rumor stuff, something I heard when I was in Basic.

No. Absolutely not. When you enlist, you sign a contract and both parties have to agree to get you out before the end of your enlistment. I've seen cases where a fellow got out on a hardship discharge because of serious family problems, and I've seen several get out because their wounds were too severe to allow them to continue in the military, but you can't buy your way out

The only thing I could think of someone buying themselves out of the military is during Vietnam. The majority of the rich kid could afford to go to college and hence not be drafted. That is the only way I could think you could be bought out.

Not in the U.S. U.S. has an all volunteer force. If you don't want to go, don't sign up. If you sign up, you're there for the duration of the contract. No buyouts.

i have heard you can file for "change of lifestyle" and get out of the army if you have something like $250,000 in your bank account. not sure if this is true or not. we used to joke about it all the time while i was in the army though. a bunch of us agreed that if we ever win the lotto, we would buy each other out.

No, you can't. If you don't want to stick out the duration of your contract, don't join.
