All branches of the US military are currently serving in Iraq - active and reserve - some for a third or fourth tour.
If you are going to join the military please do remember that warfighting is the reason the military exists. Entering military service and expecting not to go is unrealistic.
That said, when I meet a person interested in military service during this time at war I usually ask, "Do you want to fight the war personally, or watch someone else do it?" What I mean is this: the Army and Marine Corps are on the ground, infantry units pulling the trigger eyeball-to-eyeball with the enemy. But in the Navy or Air Force the enlisted personnel maintain and equip the aircraft that officers fly into combat (Navy involvement is primarily from Aircraft Carriers - the surface threat is small).
So enlisting in the Air Force may put you in Iraq, but you would be working primarily at a base preparing the aircraft for combat missions. Be aware of the role each branch of the military serves and make an informed choice based on your temprament and desires.

Not shipped - air mailed.
The military is so desperate that they're actually training Air Force personnel in ground combat. You might be joining the Army without even knowing it. And you know where that will take you. But hey, if you join the military, don't be surprised if you end up, you know, like, fighting a war or something.

The Air Force has an Air Expeditionary Force (AEF) deployment schedule / 10 AEF's (2 at a time) are gone on deployment / Each Base is assigned to an AEF / based on what your career field is will determine when you will deploy / deployments are currently at 120 days / if you are tasked to support the Army mission - 6 monthes

The deployment rate has been rising....hard to answer this question. There are some who have been very, very fortunate to go their entire career without deploying and a majority that deploy at least once in their career. As of right now, the deployment time period is for the most part four to six months....but then again that depends on your job. If you are concerned about deploying then maybe you shouldn't join....we are in war and it's a part of the job. good luck on whatever you decide.

look if you join the military but are afraid of going to iraq then go reexamine your life. any person with an IQ above 70 knows that if you join any branch of the serive there is a chance that you will be called upon to do your job that is why you take the oath and sign the contract. people from the navy go to iraq they are corpsmen who usually go in with marines.

If you join the Air Force expect to be deployed to a combat area for four months.
Depending on your career field the chances vary, but far too many people join and suddenly become consciences objectors (they knew what they signed up for).
If you don't think you could stand being deployed for four to six months please stay out of the Air Force. If you don't think you could stand being deployed for twelve to fifteen months stay out of the Army. If you don't think you could stand being on a boat for six months stay out of the Navy.
Deployments come with the territory

It is not likely. Most of the sorties into Iraq are from outside the country. exception would combat SAR, few pilots in country and support crews.
