One good example where it finally seems to have worked, after about 1000 years of recurring warfare are Germany and France. After the second world war both countries decided to start moving towards a lasting piece, initiated what is now the European Union (then EEC) and still have lots of programs for young people to meet across the borders and languages.
The more the people of the 2 countries meet and find out about one another, the less the likelihood that they could fall victim to the lie of the "arch-enemy" lying in wait for another go at them. It has worked there (62 years now), and it might be a model for others

In 8,000 years of recorded human history, in only one way. One nation wins the war, destroys the military capability of the other nations and replaces its' culture with that of the winners. Result = peace.

Maybe lessons can be learned from North and South Korea who after roughly a half century of staring each other in the face primed for war have just opened their borders between each other.

My country-Roumania and those mother *******-Hungarians we whore fighting for 300 years and in the ww1 we beat the shet out of them and the hate is still big but now we are friends only on the paper.

Just look at history, it happens. Just look at Libya, we hated them, bombed them and now they are off the terroist list and we are friends.
